Hi, I am starting Xeljanz soon (bloods being checked etc). While looking online like we all do I came across this website offering it in a topical. I like many Alopecians are vulnerable to a scam,…Continue

I just joined the group after being in a bit of denial. I have had 3 episodes of AA - my first at 22, second at 26 and now at 34. I was very lucky the first few times and recovered in 6 months back…Continue

"I think the availability and price of Ruxo put it out of reach for many unless they can somehow manage to get insurance cover or are able to source and dose a reliable powder source. Baricitinib is offered by Beacon and may also work if Tofacitinib…"

"Hi guys, there are few different protocols- I think it depends on the doctor and the access to various types of steriods as to what is used in different individuals. There are pulses that are monthly - usually prednisone - a big dose - say 300mg per…"

"Oh Carlie - this makes me so happy! It has come back beautifully! So thick and the colour is amazing. It’s hard to think back on the process- I know when we lose our hair it’s like a surreal nightmare, like the shock of it happening- no…"

"New Jack- I don’t trust antibiotics either and believe they were partially responsible for triggering my alopecia. When I look back on my health historically hair sheds (which I didn’t identify as alopecia at the time) occurred 2/3…"

Frida Rupert replied to AlopeciaDestroyedMyLife's discussion Xeljanz (Tofacitinib Citrate): My experience on the trial
"looks great Newjack- but I totally understand the paranoia- I notice increased sheds now and then but I think to a degree some of it is over vigilance given our traumatic experience but also maybe our hair cycle trying to normalise, given we have…"

"Zarrin- I haven’t had the flu vaccine but have been told it’s ok as it is not a live vaccine.  The vaccines that are a problem are the ones that are live. That said I understand the nervousness- our immune systems seem so disordered…"

"Oh Mashloum, I am so sorry you guys are going through this. I do think it will resolve. Kids are much harder to dose in my opinion as their growth impacts their metabolism and so they are up and down in terms of the dose needed to stay stable. I…"

"Yeah I only was off about a week- and then restarted. So far no repercussions from having the short break... but, as we see on here, the chance of small flares is pretty consistent with the condition so I try to remain calm and realise if a flare…"

Frida Rupert replied to AlopeciaDestroyedMyLife's discussion Xeljanz (Tofacitinib Citrate): My experience on the trial
"Hi dinitria, I don’t think the medicine stops working. I think we have flares of the disease. Meaning - the attack on the follicles becomes stronger for a period of time. Once the flare passes I think the Tofacitinib will regrow the hair lost.…"

Frida Rupert replied to AlopeciaDestroyedMyLife's discussion Xeljanz (Tofacitinib Citrate): My experience on the trial
"Hi Vanessa- I had only vellus at 5 months but full regrowth about month 8.  Its different for all. I think, in some cases, the length of time you’ve had alopecia can make it slower to recover. I had it only about 6/7 months before…"
