I am also straight and in a relationship with a wonderful man; He luvs me for who I am no matter what====I have found that it really bothers me more so than him, especially if I go wigless; Not only do I have alopecia totalis, I am short for my…
im a 43 year old female; i have had alopecia totalis for 5 years; It has been 5 years of hell--- ive went through all the stages of grief and only this year am beginning to accept this condition; i've tried everything on the market for hairloss; (even tried a few that were kind a out there); At the present time i wear wear a wig most of the time in "public" and at home nothing; i wear synthetic wig and i have to say it looks really good on me; most people would never know it wasnt my reall hair unless they were told; But i live in south georgia and the summers are killer----sweat like crazy and HOT HOT-- it also moves around on me from time to time-- especially if im very active-- im so glad that i have finally found people that understand how i feel and will not judge me based on my hairloss or my size -- oh yeah forgot to mention im a bbw.
I want to change up wigs but i want my moneys worth; i need something low maintenance; and a wig that will stay put-- i wear a short style with bangs;
im glad to be here thanks for ur time

If you don't mind me asking, where do you get your hair pieces from. I have not been able to find anything around here. The only places I can find, well, let's just say, not to sound at all ugly, are for a different ethnticity or for an older generation. I tried them on and dark black hair doesn't look so great on me because of my fair skin. The other's I tried on made me look 30 years older.
Hi Merita -- Thanks for your note. I get my "hair systems" through Tom Magliaro's Hair Additions in Houston. It is hot and humid in Houston, like in Georgia and I have found it to be really comfortable through the spring, summer (and let's admit it, it's still hot around here in the fall). It is made with real human hair and has an extremely thin lining. When I wore it longer, it only lasted about 4-6 months, but with the shorter cut, it looks like this one may last a year.
oh, thank you! =) Some of my pictures are my real hair, before I had alopecia, but some are with my wig. I have a couple wigs and they are great, I love them. They aren't real..they're synthetic so their much cheaper, and I think just as good. I got it at a place called Godiva's Secret out here in California, but I'm pretty sure they have a website. One of my wigs I got at a little beauty shop though, so I'm sure there are tons of great ones out there,and they don't have to be real hair. Do you have any wigs? Your face is so beautiful, you don't even need one!!
