- I am a 33 year old attorney in Houston, Texas. I lost all of the hair on my head between December 2006 and February 2007. After a few months, I continued to lose all of my body hair, including my eyebrows, eyelashes etc. But over the course of the past year, I have learned so much about myself--namely, that who I am is not based on my hair or lack thereof--and about my friends and family.

turning a corner...

although I have had a couple of hard days this past month in dealing with my alopecia, overall, I really feel like I have turned a corner and feel much more comfortable in my own skin and confident. I'm not really sure what specifically has changed... maybe my two weeks in the mountains is sinking into my entire being, maybe all the bikram yoga I am doing... not realyl sure but it is a great comfort to have found a bit of peace with respect to all of this. Back from Big Sky Country

Just returned from a two week National Outdoor Leadership School course in the Wind River Wilderness Range in Wyoming. What an amazing trip... for so many reasons, not te least of which was going wig free for two weeks in front of 14 strangers. It was so liberating. When we got back in town I even went out with my group without my wig on an flew home without my wig on. Huge risks for me but with amazing pay off... feel so much more confident.
Come Monday... it'll be alright

So I am totally over the Sunday night blues. I went for a good run this morning and then had a very productive day at work. My brother and I are going to see The Cure tonight, so that should be fun. I'm struggling though with not being in a relationship. I hate Sunday nights

I love my life...I really do--even with AU but I hate sunday evenings. they just seem like the time for families but my mom and stepdad live in Florida and my brother typically has his own things going on on Sunday evenings. Monday through Satruday I'm almost always busy with friends, social events, volunteering--sometimes I'm even double or triple booked but Sundays just seem like dead air. like they are interminable. I think I'm going to shut this one down early and go to bed.

I live in Houston as well and I would like to at some point meet other people in our area who have Alopecia. I have recently been diagnosed with the condition. It has been six months now. It started with just the hair on top of my head and within the last two months spread to my eyelashes and eyebrows.
I have lost all my eyebrows and eyelashes. Have you done the permanent make up and if so, would you recommend it? Thanks again for the information. Your positive outlook has given me hope for my future and for finding acceptance with my au.
