- hi guys! im lauren and im a 21 year old college student. one day almost 2 years ago i woke up to extreme diffuse shedding for no apparent reason. i was told it was telogen effluvium, but the shedding has spread to all the hair-baring areas of my body...so im really not sure what is going on! hopefully one day i will find out, but for now i would love to find support in this community!

hi guys! ive never written on here before, but ive encountered a very sticky situation and i would really appreciate your advice. ive been losing my hair for like 2 years but I keep it very private. over the summer the loss got so bad that I shaved my head and got a wig, which I now wear daily. i started nursing school in this wig 2 days ago, thinking i would be able to keep this a secret. well today I found out that it will basically be impossible to keep it a secret because we will be doing… Continue

Mckenzie said… - No way! are you really?! What a small world! Knowing that I won't be the only one here going through this definitely comforts me! Are you already at USF or are you transferring here? I did the exact same thing, I compromised on a wig because i didn't think I would ever look like me again or be comfortable in one. But I went to this place in Orlando called Ritzy Rags and seriously they changed everything and helped me so much! They even give you a discount if your buying a wig because of medical reasons.... Lol but just a heads up, it's a gay establishment. The man that is the expert, leigh, performs as a woman by night! :) I know that sounds iffy! But please trust me when I tell you, He is fabulous! Wigs are a passion of his and its totally apparent with how he works with you! What I thought I wanted was complete opposite of what looked good on me and he literally looked at me and the first wig he put on me is the one I wear all the time (I actually bought two lol). And the place next door trims them for you, too. If you don't feel comfortable going, I love it so much that I would totally be willing to go with you. They are truly great!

- Hey girl! I'm so glad you wrote on my wall! You're going to love nursing school! Its a TON of work but so rewarding getting to work with patients. I'm at USF. Where will you be starting?! Finding a wig was SOOO hard for me and honestly it was traumatizing. A lot of heartless sales people, and it about killed me. But seriously don't settle for anything other than what you feel comfortable in!! I didn't get my wigs in Tampa. I actually went to Orlando. But if you're willing to go there I have a great place for you, that I would recommend to anyone!
