I have always been and always will be that person who has never fit in or found my place in life. I have always felt like a outsider no matter where I am. Never felt comfortable in my own skin. I had a BAD day today and have been crying off and on for several hours, for once I wasn't crying becasue I have AA. But I know I can come to Alopecia World and no one cares that I am a size 14 and most of all no one cares if I have bald spots. Thank you for being here when I need a shoulder to cry on.

very upset with wigs please give ideas.

I finally broke down and bought two wig off line. I have AA and up to 10 spots on my head. Well the wigs i bought are awful. So I am asking what is a good wig to buy that doesnt look like a mop on my head, price is a big issue money is very tight. Thank you.

Have AA. How much more hair am I going to lose?

I found out in July I have a AA, I have a large spot and 7 other spots the size of a quarter. Does anyone with AA have that many? I am having a pity party for me and can not stop crying between the losing of handfuls of hair to my head itching and all the bald spots I feel like I am about two seconds from going over the edge. Two of the 7 showed up over the weekend. The only positive thing is I have stuble all over my hair and around 75% of my hair. I know AA is unpredictable and is different… Continue

What am I to expect?

Posted on August 23, 2010 at 9:17pm 6 Comments

I was diagnosed a month ago with AA my Docter gave me no clue what to expect. I started with one large spot and now I have more smaller spots. My scalp gets red and itchy and usually in several days a bald spot shows up. Is this what happens to anyone else? Two weeks ago I had steriod shots in the large spot it itches all the time also. I have started looking to extensions and wigs in case it gets worse. But please if anyone could give me feed back. Thank-you

Kimberly, You, me, and Trish all started this journey with AA at almost the same time..for whatever reason, but we did...and I have always felt a special close connection with you two...because of that fact..also, I know you both to be very compassionate & beautiful women. Now, as we all have learned, each of us will have different experiences with this. Know that I am here...if you ever need a friend...in the words of a song...Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, all you got to do is call, and I'll come runnin'!!!! I may not can afford to fly to you...but I am only a phone call away..God will not leave us alone in this. Just LOOK how many new friends we have made, in such a short time. Every time you see that red ribbon up there on your profile, you tell yourself, "I am special"....because you are!!!

HI Kim, I am so sorry that we are far away from one another, I wish we were neighbors.I too have noone that really understands either..I am completely new to this myself and its devastating..I have always had a full head of hair, and out of no where this happens..Seems alomst like I also have diffuse AA on top of AA because no matter how much I use the olux foam and the injections my hair still tends to fall out in clumps and the borders of my patches are just spreading outward getting bigger...They almost seem like they are starting to form one big spot..So scared, was reading a bit and usually if you keep losing like I have they turn into totalis so scared and depressed ready to God only knows what at this point..Head is also itchy and annoying..I also found some bald patches on my legs which is also very scary, but I am praying like no tomorrow that my immune system gives up attacking my hair...Wish I was there for a hug..:)
