About Me:
I found my first bald spot on November 24 2009....my birthday. I was diagnosed 2 days later from the doctor. As a first time find, Alopecia of any kind, is a heart stopping moment. It took a long time before I was sort of okay with it. But it still bothers me enough to cry with each new patch.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

Hi Christine. Thank you for the friend add :) I am sorry to hear about anyone having to deal with the thought of losing their hair. I discovered my first bald patch the day of my grade nine farewell and took a long time for me not to freak out and cry every time I found a new patch. Now I just kind of accept it although I would prefer to just have "normal" hair sometimes. Anyways I hope it gets better for you. Have you been to the dermatologist for treatment?

Yes, I would love to be added as a friend!
I've had universalis for about 30 years. I miss my eyelashes most of all.

Hello and welcome, Christine!
I'm sorry you're having a hard time with alopecia. I know how it can be.
I even wrote a book about it called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" Let me know if I can help.

Christine~

Hello! Mine started at the end of March with one really large spot by my ear and several smaller one. Now I have such large ones I wear a hairpiece. I don't think I could shave and go bald. It has subsided a little, but now I am getting small patches around my hairline. I am not sure why it started, but it was ironic this happened after a car accident.

Hi Christine! With your confidence and friends around you'll survive whatever alpi throws at you. Of course it takes a back seat (heck: or NO seat!) to all the activity of your life and here at AW you'll make many new friends who've walked this path and will encourage you all the way.
Take care and hope we chat again.
