- I developed aa on my 40th birthday (52 now), becoming au within a few months, got full regrowth within a few years, lost most of it again and regrew it again. At this time I'm losing quite a bit again and in a semi-custom piece. I've taken my personal experience with areata and combined it with my desire to serve God and my hairdressing experience (30 plus years) and do what I can to help women obtain great wigs at the lowest possible prices. I luuuuuv reading about how others here are dealing so incredibly well with their areata and other types of hair loss. We are not our hair! That said, ya gotta love a great wig. ; )

I'm also 49 and, like you, I lost my hair when I was 40. After a very small bout with AA in my mid-30s, it suddenly returned at 40 and I quickly went to AU. Unlike you, however, I've never seen any hair return. You are sort of an inspiration to me, however. You remind me that almost complete regrowth can be possible but, more importantly, your loveliness and positive personality remind me that having hair is not so absolutely necessary!
