- Determination and rising above my new challenge is what defines me right now. Alopecia is what you make of it--some days it goes by and I am good, and other days are difficult for me. I am grieving.
This disease is given me the opportunity to learn more about myself. It will show the beauty and sprit for who I am, while NOT defining me as a victim of hair loss. Nothing has changed. Hair, is just hair. And I always will keep smiling!
I can't wear my hair the way I used to, even from this photo its hard to tell. In the end I will be stronger for it.

I'm not one to "blog" very much, but I feel this deserves proper attention. I had just received my sister's wedding invitation, and in lieu of gifts they each picked a charity. My sister picked the NAAF. Although I did know about this.... (and I cried when she told me)....... seeing it on the invitation just put a big ol knot in my throat ....... and yes, made me cry all over again. - I hope that the information was helpful. Did you have a chance to talk with Dr. Do yet? I wished that I lived closer to help out with the testing! There was another one in Chicago but I called them and found out that the project was cancled before they even got a chance to start it because of funding issues.

I know how hard it can be. I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!"
