- Im 20, In college and I just started losing my eyebrows and eyelashes which I really DIDNT see coming, having to deal with this all and being is college is hard, but there are much worse things to deal with than alopecia, but I want my hair :'( I have already lost hope. I dont think any thing will work to grow my hair back, and I'm not goin to lie; I'm extremely depressed about it--- so much so that I dont go out,or talk to my friends as much...I dont know, I feel like no one really cares, and that they are just happy that they dont have it ...

Trip to Nigeria...cultural differences

Hey everyone, just thought I'd write a quick blog about my trip to Nigeria( I went for a month, dec to jan) and what I experienced while I was there.I went to Nigeria for 2 of my cousins weddings, they were held in two different cities, I traveled to Lagos( a large city in the southern part of the country) and benin.I did wear my wig when I was there and it got really unconfortable, had to stick it out though. Yesterday I was on the bus to work. A bald woman got on the bus and I immediately wanted to go talk to her and ask her how shes dealing with the hair loss and if she wanted to go to the healing rooms ( to get prayed for, for healing) I said "hi, I was wondering, do you have alopecia like me"? She said "no, I'm going through chemo". I felt so terrible. I'm just bald and healthy but she is bald because she has cancer and is going through chemo. I felt absolutely terrible. I just ordered some pills (Chinese herbal ones) from fusion health( I'm sorry but I'm just not into this whole 'bald and proud thing, I'm bald and I'm definately not proud of the fact that I am and I refuse to believe doctors or websites telling me that theres no chance of hair growth since I have AU). Hey everyone! i promised to update once i went to the model scout event i blogged about last month! well i went there bald! lol and the agents asked me how long ive been without hair , i told them since last summer ( thats when all of my hair completely fell out) and i also told them that i have alopecia! and how it was my first time coming out without a wig , (one of the agents high fived me lol) they told me ive got great height, a nice shaped head, and a pretty face and that i stood out but… Continue

Tobi Thomas said… - Hi Alexis, not going to lie dating at first was very hard, I was so scared in the beginning to tell a guy about me having Alopecia. I usually waited atleast two months to feel the guy out. I think I might have been rejected by one guy, of course I was upset and depress, but then I starting thinking his lost not mines. College was hard my freshman year due to the fact I was living on campus, and I was attending a HBCU, and sometimes we has black folks put some much on hair. It was hard at first, but I made great friends who loved me for who I was.
I also had a great support system with my mom. If you ever need to talk to me feel free to hit me up anytime.
