- I have a 9 year old son that has had alopecia areata since he was 5 year old. We decided to shave his head (after talking it over with him) Christmas break during his Kindergarden year. He is a very brave little boy. He has had struggles throughout the years, but recently he had a bad emotional breakdown. It was because of a stranger that rudely came up to him and was talking about his head. We are looking for friends that can relate to our situation. I also started an awareness event on facebook considering September is Alopecia Awareness month. Please search "September is Alopecia Awareness Month" on facebook and join us in spreading the word.
