- Diagnosed with AA in August '10, ended up shaving my head on 9/02/10. Definitely best decision I made for myself. My hair seems to come and go as it pleases. I've come to terms with it and don't let it bother me. I choose to not wear a wig or scarf, I'm just more comfortable going out not covering myself. If people have a problem with it, they really are not worth my time. Take me as I am, or you don't need to be a part of my life. I'm going to do what I need to do to make myself happy!!

Lost an eyebrow, but still gaining hair and painful lymph nodes

I was sitting at my desk on wednesday when I looked down and saw what I thought were a bunch of eyelashes on my desk... my eyelashes shed a lot, but they have never been completely missing. I grabbed my mirror out of my purse and saw that I lost half of my left eyebrow, on my work desk. I have NEVER had it happen that fast before. My hair on my head fell out in spots in months, not all at one time. But apparently I rubbed my eyebrow the wrong way, because it was right in front of me on my desk!… Continue
Luck with Biotin?

So I don't know if this is just a coincidence or not, but I read on here about someone taking biotin, so I did some research on it and I've been taking it for a little over a month now. I dont want to get my hopes up, but I currently have ZERO bald spots and my thick hair is growing in! Also my nails stopped peeling and breaking once they got some length to them. Today is exactley a year since I shaved my head. A year ago today I took control over something that I was letting control me and depress me. This year has been full of a LOT of downs...breaking my foot, vertigo, missing 3 months of work, and doctor bills coming out of everywhere, and losing my boyfriend of 3 years because he wasn't attracted to me without my hair. So I haven't written in a while, so I thought I would do a update. My vertigo is GONE, but the migraines still come and go. But I'm happy I'm back to work and going about my "normal" life again...
My Alopecia isn't quite sure what it wants to do. It was all growing in, then I had huge bald spots, then it all grew in, then I had more huge bald spots. So I have stuck with shaving it really low every 3-4 days, and using on-scalp bleach to become a blonde. It hides my bald spots really… Continue

- Hi Tamara and I totally know how you feel and what you've been through and may still go through. See my profile and read my story. I've just come to the realization that I would have to educate the ignorant/stupid people about alopecia. But in any event I dyed my hair too, well lack of hair and you're right it does cover up the spots well. What type of on-scalp dye do you use?
