"I too am in my 60s and have had AA for 15 years. Bald spots have come and gone. This winter I was very sick, in the hospital for a month and finally had major surgery. A month later my hair is falling out by the handfull. Not in spots, all over. My…"
"Hello Hope, I just got your email asking about my son but I'm afraid you have the wrong person... my son does not have alopecia areata, it is me. I've had a few bouts where I lost much of my hair but it grew back each time, and I've…"
"Hi, I've been on it since Sept last year. I'm so glad to hear your daughter is having growth. I too am having growth, it is scarce, and has been showing growth. It takes time, patience, and a good attitude. The consistency is important.…"
"I know this post was a year ago, but here is my feedback. I lost all my hair shortly after giving birth and saw dr Strick about it. Since then I regret the peach fuzz on my face and have been having hair growth sporadically. Slowly but surely. The…"
"I've had 3 "outbreaks" of AA and had injections all 3 times. I did not notice any side affects from the shots, and right now I've had 2 years of "normal" hair on my head:). That being said, I believe that shots or not,…"
"Hello Donna, I'm so sorry but I can't help you. The note I posted about this was not FROM me, it was from another website that someone else wrote, I was just asking the question about the treatment, which I had not heard of. Good luck."
"To me this sounds like DCP i've tried that years ago and the hair began to grow but you always have to use a higher medication because the skin gets used to it. So i was on the highest medication and the hair began to fall out again. Plus there…"
"We are seeing Dr. Strick now. The cream he uses does not cause blisters. It is applied every day with a low dose your body can handle so it does not itch or cause any blisters. He has helped over 5,000 patients and is very knowledgeable of Alopecia…"
"Never heard of it, but just now googled it. Lots of articles, but I only had time to skim. And, the Lancet appears to want money. :)
Personally, I can't see myself adding such a toxin to my system just for my hair. Not to mention the…"
I'm a 62 year old woman who, since my alopecia areata got out of control this month, is acting like a 2 year old... I can't stop crying, I don't know what to do first, who I can talk to, who knows what I'm going through. Friends think I have a fatal disease I'm so upset... I know this won't kill me but I feel I might just die of embarrassment. This website seems like a great place to start.

Hello and welcome, Susan,
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if you need help or support. One thing that you might be interested in is my book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) It has a lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com. Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.
