- My name is Nick, I'm 20 years old.
I've had alopecia since I was around 8 or 9 years old. it started as a patch on the side of my head, and eventually spread over my entire scalp. It has grown back completely once, but quickly fell back out..and now it's been about 7 years since i've had any hair on my head. my eyebrows and eyelashes have more or less stayed, only falling out once.
I feel like the hardest part about having alopecia is that it's such a mystery. if you're sick, the doctor tells you what's wrong and how to get better, but with alopecia, there doesn't seem to be a lot of answers.
personally, i have completely accepted the fact that I'm bald and actually feel like it's made me a better person. without a doubt, it's a tough thing to grow up and live with, but in the scheme of things it's just some hair.
