Racquel Welch Wigs

Has anyone had a Racquel Welch Wig? I have been looking at her new Tru2life fiber wigs. They are synthetic but can be curled or straightened. I wanted to see if anyone has heard of her wigs and what you think of them. I have had such bad luck with wigs that I don't want to order another one and be disappointed. Please let me know what you think of her wigs, especially the new fiber ones.

"The one I am looking at can actually be curled and straightened with irons and blown dry with hair drying. It is about 120 which is not bad. But maybe if its not a good quality. Thanks for your advice."

I am 23 years old and getting my masters in social work. I have had alopecia for about 9 months which has gone for areata to almost totalis. I still have like 10% of my hair left and have not talked myself into shaving it off yet. I have regrowth in some places and then it falls out again. I am getting some regrowth now but who knows if it will last. It has been a very emotional journey and I still have my moments when I wish for my hair back. I got married on August 22nd to the most amazing and supportive man. He has been my rock and should to cry on and I don't know what I would do without him.

Messing with my emotions

Posted on March 25, 2009 at 8:59pm 6 Comments

So the past 4 months have been such a roller coaster of emotions. I have been so upset that I have to go through this with so many important things coming up in my life, like my wedding. Then I feel blessed that it is not something more serious to my health. Lately I have been feeling better and starting to accept my hair loss, and almost having faith that it is growing back. I have stopped all medical treatments after being put on prednisone and absolutely hating it. I am letting my body do… Continue

My wig looks like your natural hair (is your profile pic a wig or natural?) I can't get it to look natural like your's!

Hey, where did you buy your bandanas (and sweatproof bandanas) online? Actually, I am very disappointed in the wig in my profile pic. I've only had it a month, spent $250 on it, and it doesn't look good anymore. There's all these tiny baby hairs around the front and part, and it's just awful. So, I have to just accept it as a loss. In the meantime, I bought an AWESOME wig at Lori's Wigs online. Great customer service, high quality wig, great price. Oh, and my husband shaved my head last night!

What type of wig do you wear? Is it comfortable?

No, I haven't shaved my head yet, but I cannot wait! I'm going to order a full lace wig in the next few days and then go in to a Peggy Knight representative for the shave, lace wig, and then a molding for my vacuum wig. I'm just excited to start fresh and not have to worry about hiding my impossible spots anymore and start living normal again! You are beautiful and I'm sure that you will make the choice that is best for you, hair or no hair. But keep me updated either way- we can hopefully help each other out! I'm really glad that I found this site and am able to talk to people who are going through the same thing as me :)
Cheers,
Natalie

ErinMichele,
You are beautiful. Hang in there. I have AA and my son has AU. He and I got it at the same time. But within 4 months he lost all of his and I'm dealing with patches that grow back then start somewhere else. I'm hoping to continue the same way with a patch growing back before another one occurs. I use something called xfusion which is sold only at some salons. Your hairdresser can order it for you. It's a powder you sprinkle on the patches. Its great stuff. Check it on the website for more info. I tried to order it from the website and found they only sell to salons. When are you getting married? Take care...

Hey ErinMichele!

Sorry about your recent diagnosis! I remember when my came back my senior year in high school, I thought my world was about to end! But I promise either way, you'll get through it, and even though hair pieces will never replace your real hair, there are some out there that aren't half bad! I'll pray that your hair stays, and the hair you've lost grows back! Try not to stress over it, I feel that's the BEST medicine! Next time I go in, which should be within the next two weeks, I'll ask the name of my hair piece. I've been going to the same guy for 6 years, since my alopecia came back, and I don't really ask any have to ask questions anymore, because we've seemed to work through all the kinks. But I'll be sure to find out for you. My hair piece is on a skin like base, though. So the part looks pretty natural. It's adhesived to my head. I never take it off. Which works for me, because I'm just not to that point where I can be without a hair piece. It's so secure, I never have to worry that it'll come off, which I like! Also, I get a new piece each month. This way I'm able to get thinner pieces, which I think helps with the realness look, too. I take a shower with it on, blow dry, straighten, etc. I'm always self conscious, of course, but people always tell me they'd never know...Let me know if you have any other questions about anything. This site is great for those things. I wish I had this when I started losing my hair! Take care! -Brittney
