You aren't alone, that's for sure, Diane. Yes, shaving the head is a new light feeling isn't it? You may find with wearing the wigs all day that sometimes your head just wants to 'breathe'. Whatever you do it's nice to…

Finally shaved my head

It has been several years since I posted. I check in once a month because it reminds me that I am not alone. I have worn wigs or weaves full time for the last two to three years. I finally shaved my head today and that is why I am posting. It feels freeing but I am not ready to let the world see me like this and don't know that I ever will. Even though I have come along way I am not there yet. I must say that I am grateful that there are so many options for women with this condition. I have…See More

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays Everyone. I have not written in a while. All is well. Some days are better than others. I am still dealing with the alopecia one day at a time. It is so amazing how much hair defines a person. I try not to think about it but it's there...Like the big pink elephant in the middle of the room...

OMG where do I start. I am a fifty four year old African America woman. All my life I have been under the impression that a woman’s hair is her glory. My hair lost started several years ago. I got a biopsy and found out I had alopecia but was in denial. I and have worn braids (extensions) for 17 years. Prior to that I had perms straight and curly.
