- My nine-year-old daughter has alopecia. Last year, she had two spots that grew back. In October, she got two spots again. This week we noticed new spots. She has small spots that are just starting to be at all noticeable. She has handled it all very well. She also has hypothyroidism. Based on the last evaluation from the endocrynologist, she is doing really well and her mom is a little over anxious. : )

Sharon said… - Hi Diane. I am sorry this is happening to your beautiful daughter. It is a really difficult time. This happened to our daughter Nicole about 4 years ago when she was eight, she is now 12. Her hair loss began as AA and she is now pretty much AU and I have to say she copes remarkably well with the whole situation. I would luv for her to be friends with your daughter, however she is not very good at getting on the computer and talking to others about her Alopecia, I am not sure perhaps she just accepts it and is busy getting on with her life! I will encourage her to leave your daughter a message.
Take care, be proactive (as you already are just by being here and asking questions) and find out all the different things that would help your daughter fit in with her peers... there are lots out there believe me, I never knew half the stuff existed that we have sourced for Nicole before alopecia came along. If you need anything just message.
