Hi! Thank you for comment. I`m living in Remagen, near Bonn and Cologne.
My aunt is living in Pittsburgh. I was there four times. There were many people who had relatives in Germany. As I say--the world is small!

Hello and welcome, Edie!
I know how hard alopecia and those awful spots can be; I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if you need help or support. One thing that you might be interested in is my book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) It has a lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com, and on this site under "Bookshelf."
Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help. Let me know how the white iodine goes.

Hi Edie! Welcome to Alopecia World. Sorry to learn you have AA. My kids have both had AA for over a year now, however, it looks like my daughter may be slipping into remission ~ hurray! I did treat the kids with Decolorized Iodine for just over a month last winter. My daughter was loosing about 30 strands of hair, when I would comb it, prior to using Decolorized Idoine. While treating with Decolorized Iodine and after, only a few strands would come out after combing. I had placed the Decolorized Iodine on at night before bedtime, then used Minoxidil in the morning ~ while the kids treated with injections every four weeks. Our dermatologist said that people usually recover from AA within one year, and that eventually all of her patients go into remission with the treatment of injections. I have to wonder if black mold placed a role in this whole AA thing with my kids. My last cleaning lady said that the chalking was bad in the shower. She does not clean my house now. I poured bleach over that chalking and the black mold was gone in seconds! Who knows what causes AA, but I will do anything to help my kids. Your friendship request was gladly accepted. Take care & write anytime!
