Sandra Dubose interview on NBC 17 My Carolina Today

September is Alopecia Awareness Month. Sandra Dubose founded the Alopecia Community of the Triangle. Alopecia is a common auto-immune skin disease resulting in hair loss. It affects about two percent of Americans. Sandra tells Valonda about the group and her journey through hair loss.

Thank you ladies. I am just doing my best to represent the team. We have to let the world know that bald is beautiful and that we can overcome this condition and be happy. Spreading the word is my way of fighting back. We can't let Alopecia rob us of our self esteem. It is my time to take that back and I appreciate your support. Sandra, you are magnificent! You said everything SO well. Thank you for being a strong spokeswoman for all of us. More and more women are going to jump on this train of self-acceptance as proudly bald women. THANK YOU!

Oh Sandra, you make be very proud to spell my name Alopecian Woman. Your interview was exceptional, I love the fact you said it so beautifully we can not allow Alopecia to rob us of our self esteem, I really loved "ok, we are going to make this work" so true, once the hurt & pain have past we can stand tall look into the mirror & say I am a beautiful woman.
