We are immensely pleased to announce that the domain name ALOPECIAWORLD.COM is back with Alopecia World!

Just to remind you, it was recently seized by a cyber-squatter who attempted to sell it for $18,000.00 or the highest bidder.

Thanks to the intervention of Alopecia World’s very able legal team, the cyber-squatter's efforts were thwarted and the domain name was transferred back to Alopecia World today.

What this means is that you can once again memorize and simply type www.alopeciaworld.com to get to the site.

It also means that all valid links to www.alopeciaworld.com will soon be working again.

NOTE: If you type www.alopeciaworld.com and see any site other than our beloved community, you can restart your computer to fix the problem or -- for the techies among us -- you can run the refresh/flush DNS command.

We truly apologize for any inconvenience this unfortunate incident may have caused you.

We also hope that you will join us in celebrating this victory for alopecians throughout the world!

With great joy and anticipation,

Cheryl and rj jones, Founders

That is most excellent news!

Also not everyone uses a Windows box - so for the Mac and Linux geeks:

In Mac OSX Leopard, you can use the command dscacheutil -flushcache to flush the DNS resolver cache:
bash-2.05a$ dscacheutil -flushcache

In Mac OSX versions 10.5.1 and before, the command lookupd -flushcache performed the same task:
bash-2.05a$ lookupd -flushcache

In Linux, the nscd daemon manages the DNS cache. To flush the DNS cache, restart the nscd daemon with the command:
/etc/init.d/nscd restart

I am not sure if or how this needs to be done on IPhone, Android, or Windwws Mobile phones.... but its only for the geeks anyway. :-)

Squonk, thanks for the additional instructions. Being a regular Windows -- and off-and-on Linux/Ubuntu -- user, I tend to forget the Mac OS. ;-)

rj & I have had 3 weeks of extreme stress regarding this event. We would sincerely like to thank all of you for your support and understanding while we were trying to rectify the situation. If there's one thing this has taught us, it is just how important this community is to us and, from the huge amount of support we received from you, how important it is to you too. Thank you, thank you and thank you.
