A few people have asked about the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) and if we are at more risk because we have alopecia. I did a search and found this:
Alopecia UK asked two alopecia experts, Dr Matthew Harries and Professor Andrew Messenger for their thoughts:
“Alopecia Areata itself does not compromise the…

Hi there,
I'm not sure if you are aware, but the FDA announced a public meeting and an opportunity for public comment on “Patient-Focused Drug Development for Alopecia Areata.”
The public meeting is intended to allow FDA to obtain patients' perspectives on the impact of alopecia areata, including on daily life.FDA is also seeking patients' views on treatment approaches and decision factors taken into account when selecting a treatment.
Could you please help…

I have had alopecia universalis for over a year now. My hair did grow back but it fell again.
My earlier medication consisted of betason ( steroid) tablets, tenovate cream and protopic ointment.I also do occlusive phototherapy.
As the improvement is very less, my doctor now suggested I try kenacort injections 40mg once for 3 months.
Thoughts on the injection?

There has a been a lot of hype about cannabis oil for the treatment of cancer in the media of late. In fact, I've seen many shows on it on CNN by Dr Sanjeep Gupter where it has literally saved children s lives.
A friend has recommended it to me for Alopecia but i cant find much research about its success rate with auto immune conditions.
Have you heard anything or had any success? Thoughts? I mean,if they are using it to treat cancer successfully, surely it could work for…

I have been on Xeljanz for 2 1/2 months 5 mg 2X daily and just last week I got about 7 white, baby fine "vellus" hairs right on top of my head and many, many of the same hairs on my face !! Like forehead, cheeks, etc. I never had hair on my face before just above my upper lip that I would pluck. Thankfully, it is light. There are no other hairs anywhere else right now but I am hoping for more. I just wonder if "vellus" hair always means you will get "terminal" hair with pigmentation? ..

Hey everyone! I've had alopecia for about 10 years and have tried every thing... literally everything. I've done laser, creams, injections, shampoos, but nothing really seemed to help me. My hair fell out almost like the seasons my dad always says. The spring and summer my hair always grew in and in the winter and fall alot of my hair fell out. So, I've been using squaric acid. The acid isn't FDA approved yet, but me and my dermotolgist said its worth a shot. So between 4-5 months mostly all…

There are indications that the nearly universal economic downturn is going to last much longer and probably get even worse than most economists and other experts will officially proclaim.
Have these abysmal economic conditions altered the way in which you cope with your alopecia?
In other words, do you now find yourself spending less on wigs, make-up, counseling, or perhaps even travel to distant support group meetings?
Or, do you now find yourself trying harder…
