Your Guide to Microblading, Eyelash Extensions, and More

"Hair loss due to alopecia can be discouraging. It impacts not only your outward appearance, but often your self-esteem as well. While many people who have alopecia feel confident in the visible display of their condition, others may be interested in camouflaging or disguising hair loss."

A mom needs encouragement

Hi. My name is Kerry, and I think I decided to write this blog mainly to get out my feelings of frustration, helplessness, and fear for my 5 year old daughter.

At the end of March 2014, my daughter brought home some adorable school pictures. When I looked at them, I noticed her eyebrows were SO full, and looking at her then, they had drastically thinned. Immediately, I began trying to think back and looking through cell phone pictures of her and I discovered that this had begun…

Alopecian GirlTalk | Weekend w/No Makeup...Milestone

Hi Couture Beauties! I am so excited to share with you what I did over the weekend that is like a major milestone in my Alopecia journey. I faced the world with NO MAKEUP...not one bit except my Vaseline Cocoa Butter Jelly for my lips. I was standing in my bathroom mirror staring at myself wondering & pondering if I wanted to put makeup on or not. I've been real excited about the growth of my eyebrows and being able to shape them...thanks to Simplicity Hair Oil. I've been applying this…

Biofibre inplant on eyebrows

Hi Everyone.

I have alopecia universalis.I am checking for the possibilities of inplanting biofibre for eyebrows. Anyone has any information about this ? I tried to search but cant really get information specific to eyebrows.
I have seen possibilities of tatoo eyebrows but I dont like it. It does not look good on men.

Anyone has any information please let me know.

Thanks,

Chetan

Cosmetic Tattooing?

I think I have mentioned that I haven't had eyebrows in a while. 10 years to be precise. It hasn't bothered much except for some weird looks every now and then, not very often. But when I want to go out and I do my make up, I feel unfinished. The bald spots, thin hair doesn't bother me as much. That I've been dealing with since I was 3 and so I can handle it and look with sheer confidence. But my face looks unfinished to me. I was wondering if there is anybody in the Calgary/Bow Valley Alberta… Continue

Eyebrow assist

I've now lost around 80% of my eyebrows. Joy.
I've been augmenting them - because they've been really pale and thin for a while - with a brown eye-liner pencil and it's been working well, but till now i've had enough hair to use as a shape guide for drawing on the brows.
I've heard about stensils and stuff, but I don't really understand how they work or where to get them. Can anyone help?? I know there are a few blogs and discussions up like this but am having trouble finding them :P

A shiny little martian

I had AU when I was first got this, eons ago, but now I have AA (fuzzy regrowth at the back meaning i have to shave it every few days) - and more importantly, eyebrows.

I am so damn glad I have eyebrows and long eyelashes. really.

But now my AA is changing. I can feel bits of my regrowth shrinking over the last couple of weeks. I had a sideburn type thing down near my left ear which is now gone and there's an empty spot right at the crown of my head. Now my patches have… Continue

Excited, nervous, happy, AHH!

The hairloss has gotten a lot worse since those pictures on my profile were taken, and Ive lost half my left eyebrow and a huge chunk on my right eyebrow. My hairloss on my head has been SO itchy. I've been thinking about shaving my head for almost a month now, and I have been talking about it with my mom, step dad Rick, and my boyfriend, Jeremy. Took a while for my mom and Rick, but they are finally understanding my feelings towards my hair. My boyfriend is the most amazing guy ever and has… Continue

A little eyebrow history!

Have you ever considered why your eyebrows are such an important feature on your face? Consider this - almost 50% of communication is done non-verbally. We tend to use many parts of our body to communicate, however, our face is arguably the most expressive part of our body. Our eyes alone can reveal many emotions such as anger, fear, or sadness but one feature that is often overlooked is the important role our eyebrows play in our ability to communicate non-verbally. Our eyebrows are actually… Continue

Stable times

Well, it's been a while since I posted my last blog. I've been busy with school and not so busy with my hair... or without my hair, haha.

I'm still bald and my legs are still becoming smoother, as well as my arms.

In general, I don't really care for my almost hairless arms and legs. What I do care about are my eyebrows. Those I don't want to lose, and I'm taking measures to prevent to let them.

I still use the fluid 'DPCP' on my eyebrows, and it works! Sometimes they fall… Continue

The British summer!!!!!!

What is so wonderful about British weather is that it changes so much and so often. Only a few weeks ago we were all basking in a glorious hot summer spell. The sun was warming my bald head whenever I went outside and it was wonderful. Today as I walk along my head is drenched and the rain is running off my head and down into my unprotected eyes. On an appearance basis my lack of eyebrows is not a problem as I quite like the total hairless image but they did serve a purpose in that they did… Continue

Two weeks or more in!!!!!!!

I have been fully AU now for just over a couple of weeks and I’ve become used to the new me. It really is great now that I’ve gone through that awful period when the hair is falling out.

I’ve had lots of support and kind comments from people on the alopecia websites I use and also from family and friends who know what has been going on. It has had its’ moments of humour though!!!!

Only last week as I was getting changed at the gym/sports hall I bumped into a friend who… Continue

My Saturday

Saturday morning and I am off to London to see the Rugby, England v Italy in the Six Nations competition. I am taking clients, one of which is an Italian so it should be a fun day out.

I have chosen to go on the train as the weather has been so bad in places yet as I sit on the train as a paying guest of Virgin Rail the view out the window is of a glorious winter wonderland. The sun is shining and the snow looks so inviting. The reality though is that it has been such a problem to so… Continue

The Case of the Missing Eyebrow

I totally suck at drawing on eyebrows - one is always thicker than the other, one is higher than the other, one is longer, or one is ridiculously stubby, etc. Most days I just don't bother, but for some reason I decided I cared this morning. Fast-forward to this afternoon at Macy's with Nan-naw (my grandmother). We are walking around and seem to be going in aimless circles attempting to find the intimates department and I keep noticing these really weird looks. Normally I love "wigging" people… Continue

New eyebrows

I just received my first pair of human hair Natural Brows. They arrived unexpectedly soon; I think I paid for the least expensive postage! Soon after I arrived home and saw a biggish parcel on my bed with other mail, I got as excited as a child looking at his present under the christmas tree on christmas day. Hastily ripped open the sealed plastic envelope, tore the carton box, unwrapped the wrapping paper, opened the packaging and looked at the realistically-finished eyebrows. Carefully… Continue
