New to the forum and looking for any advice!

Hi everyone,

I found out three months ago that I have female pattern hair loss. My hair had been disintegrating for over a year but I didn't know what was causing it. I'm in my mid twenties and have a brother a year younger who's losing his hair too. I knew my dad went bald at a young age, but never in a million years would have guessed I could inherit the hair loss as a girl.

My dermatologist has me taking 200mg spironolactone and using the 5% minoxidil foam. I'm still…

Here it is again!

Well, same story as last time as it is every time. It was the second week before Christmas. I ran my hand through my hair and there it is. The size of a dime, it grew and then 3 weeks later right after the new year, there was now 2. One larger than the other, like siblings. One trying to out do the other - then at the wonderful size of Almost Silver Dollars, I find a third sibling hiding at the back of my head......

Same as the other two- about the size of a dime - then the hair loss…

My "Cure" for Alopecia...Real Talk

I have been battling alopecia areata since 2013. Through trial and error of many products and treatments I have finally found something that works and the results are unreal! That bad patch was the size of a dime in 9/2014 and grew to tennis ball size by 1/2015. Check out my page to see the before photos! These results were through the help of my dermatologist and a company with advanced holistic treatments that specializes in alopecia.

NOW...Photo taken 8/2015. My patch that seemed…

Here we go, I can't run from this problem

I'm new to this, they haven't even diagnosed me yet but one thing is for sure, I had, up until 4 weeks ago beautiful, thick and curly hair. I've lost more then half all over and now I'm noticing thinning spots around my temples and the rest of my hair line. And what's scary is I'm watching it get thinner and thinner. It's fast man. My hair is everything to me, to me it makes me. After a slew of blood tests, and tons of questions my dermatologist is very curious about me and my symptoms. I've…

Looks like I may be headed for New York soon

Going to visit the HIS Hair Clinic in New York this next Wednesday the 17th for my first scalp micropigmentation.

Alopecia World references this here:

http://www.alopeciaworld.com/xn/detail/2022678:Note:1101286

I had scheduled my appointment for the Seattle office, since I live in Portland, Oregon, but then got a phone call from the company asking if I'd be willing to come to New York and let them…

Alopecia Mommy

Hello Alopecia World!

I'm a new mommy (two babies under 2 years old!) and I started losing my hair shortly after a minor car accident while I was pregnant with my son. I gave birth to my daughter last summer and experienced about 90% hair loss following delivery.  I'm curious if there are any other moms out there that have had this happen to them?  Or anyone that struggles with alopecia and wants to share...

I started writing on wordpress:…

Alopecian GirlTalk | Weekend w/No Makeup...Milestone

Hi Couture Beauties! I am so excited to share with you what I did over the weekend that is like a major milestone in my Alopecia journey. I faced the world with NO MAKEUP...not one bit except my Vaseline Cocoa Butter Jelly for my lips. I was standing in my bathroom mirror staring at myself wondering & pondering if I wanted to put makeup on or not. I've been real excited about the growth of my eyebrows and being able to shape them...thanks to Simplicity Hair Oil. I've been applying this…

Dreams

I had a dream a few days back, It started like any other of my dreams. Wierd and I had no idea what was going on but then it came into focus. I was at my Grandmas and I had just woken up or something like that and my sister told me that I had my hair back. I was overflowing in joy and rushed to the bathroom to bursh my hair. (I miss brushing it the most)Anyway as I'm looking in the mirror I see that my hair is Blond and I mean Harry potter Malfoy Blond. This for some odd reason doesn't…

Monistat 7 for hair growth? What!

Some one told me mixing monistat 7 with olive oil, coconut oil, or castor oil will promote hairgrowth. I googled this and came across an ehow article about this. Has anyone heard of this mixture or have they tried it? For more info search on ehow.com and read the story.

My new hair, and Clinic Del Mondo

This photo is of me wearing my "new hair". An awesome piece of new technology from an awesome man name Greg T Kirk who has teamed up with Clinic Del Mondo on the Gold Coast (QLD) to bring it to Australia. Essentially it's a thin membrane of some plastic substance, threaded with human hair, and glued to the scalp - lasting some 4-6 weeks. While Greg has worked with the technology for a few years in the States, it is completely new here.…

Hair!

So lately my hair has been growing back as you may have read in one of my previous blogs, and it's been getting better and better. I hadn't really paid so much attention to my hair when it was growing back at first (not so much that I was obsessed with growing it back), but lately I have been paying more attention to it because now I can visibly keep track on the regrowth, and that's fun!

I have a hair-line again at the front of my head again, and I've produced myself a milimetered mohawk.… Continue

Two weeks or more in!!!!!!!

I have been fully AU now for just over a couple of weeks and I’ve become used to the new me. It really is great now that I’ve gone through that awful period when the hair is falling out.

I’ve had lots of support and kind comments from people on the alopecia websites I use and also from family and friends who know what has been going on. It has had its’ moments of humour though!!!!

Only last week as I was getting changed at the gym/sports hall I bumped into a friend who… Continue

Hair Again

I am now experiencing a really weird feeling. I now have hair again.

I cannot believe that it has all come back. I have not shaved my head for a month now and I have more hair than I would have thought possible in such a short period of time.

The last time I shaved was on the Saturday evening of the August bank holiday. I shaved at about 1800 hours as I was going to our friends’ 25th Wedding Anniversary party. As always with a big night out I wanted a really close shave… Continue

Have you hear about Rio Hair? It happened in the USA back in the early 90's...

My first encounter with Alopecia was back in 1993 when I was dying my hair and perming my hair like crazy. And I got a brillant idea to try this crap I saw on a late night info-mercial about a hair care product call “Rio Hair”, it was suppose to be an all natural product to relax curly hair. Yeah well, silly me bought into that “infomercial” and purchased a kit. I put this “all natural stuff from Brazil” in my hair and guess what happened...

The spots started a few days later and I… Continue
