The LOL means- Laugh out loud- and it was in responce to the part about the LAB BILL! Yes this is the way it works. Doctors have you come in for multiple visits trying to figure out the proper diagnosis all the while alternating different medicines…

And these days shall come again, Stay strong and learn to find appreciation in the things that you DO have in our life as opposed to focusing in what you have lost, then your might create memories even BETTER than B4.

No matter how many times I read stories...we are so all the same!! Terrified to wash our hair, because of the shedding!! Then to find when we do wash it, the shedding is two-fold, as we make up for the day we didn't shampoo and have to comb out…

About Me:
Hello Beautiful World. First and foremost I would like to say that although being diagnosed with a form of Alopecia (Androgenetic) was hard, I have to believe that all things happen for a reason. I am now in a place that makes me want to contribute to its awareness.I would also like to remind everyone (including myself at times-ha ha) that true beauty IS within, not that the outside is not as beautiful (Alexandra) but just saying lol. Its easy to loose focus of this when one is soooo caught up in the web of standards imposed upon by society today. Regardless of this human flaw I will love life and all the people in it unconditionally and am very thankful for my family and for everyone that I am fortunate enough to have within my circle. God Bless, Stay True!
Do you have alopecia?
Female pattern baldness
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

NOTHING IS FOREVER, Please try to remember this the next time that you lean over to cry. Instead, why not sit on that Pitty/Worry pot for a second (its natural) then once you have been there for a minute or two...PUSH yourself up and FORCE yourself to change your perspective! Life is too special not to ;)

THIS IS MY POST FROM 10/2009 THAT I WOULD LIKE TO REPOST FOR ALL THE NEWLY DIAGNOSED.

Posted on July 20, 2010 at 11:25pm 2 Comments

Ok, as I was strolling through some of Blogs last night I noticed a number of people asking questions about hair loss, symptoms, treatments and things of that nature. Now I have been working in dermatology on and off for approximately 10 years now and have seen ALOT. I also know patients that are going through all types of hair loss and then only to add to it....I too was diagnosed with a form of hair loss- Androgenetic Alopecia- in 2007 and boy did this give me a whole new understanding! Since… Continue

Has Spiro helped and the phases of HAIR GROWTH AND SHED!

Posted on July 20, 2010 at 11:14pm 0 Comments

In regard to the spiro question I would say YES, Yes that it has helped , especially once they bumped me up from 50mg to 100mg bid (twice a day). The shed is less but as usual their ARE times when the shed seems more than usual. I would like to remind you though that hair goes through cycles or better said 3 stages of growth:

A) Anagen Phase= this is when the hair is actively growing and lasts between 2 to 4 years

B) Catagen Phase aka Transitional Phase= when the hair stops… Continue

>Now I am REALLY going to bed. I see this site is growing which is great. It is a step in the right direction towards Awareness among other things. We need to make sure that our faces are seen and that our voices heard so that uncle sam can allocate the appropriate funds for a once and for all CURE as opposed to limited (if ANY) quick fixes!</</body>

My Second Diagnosis Contributing to More Hair Loss, As If The First Was Not Enough

Posted on October 24, 2009 at 12:30pm 5 Comments

It was around this time last year in early October and I had finally begun to adjust to my prior diagnosis- Androgenetic Alopecia from 2007- when I decided that I I would do whatever I could to prevent further loss. I noticed that whenever I washed my hair more of it shed (I could see it on my brush) so I tried to minimize this occurrence by making the decision to lessen the frequency of times that I washed my hair. I purchased multiple shower caps was only going to wash my hair only twice a… Continue

The cost of the laundry list of lab tests without contract rate that I get thru my insurance ( I call it non-insurance) was over $1000....who could pay that? They told me self pay, they could give me a discount..$500. Big break. Like a half price sale. LOL. So I ended up paying about $200...all really for nothing...Take care...have a good one.

You, too, Jo Jo, are getting older as I type this reply !!! That's a LOL moment for ya!! I was meaning, for someone older to have hair that looks like it belongs on a 20 yr old, well isn't that a bit odd? No, I have no grays yet, thankfully, in what hair I have left...but the texture changes of hair as we get older.

I had the whole laundry list of tests run, and really they offered my no conclusion...she said I was mildly androgenic, as I look at the test results now..says precursor to adrenal hormones..biomarker of chronological age...go figure whatever that means. My free testosterone was <0.2 ..my dhea sulfate was 19 Low...No help or answers did I receive, but I sure received the lab bill !!

I really love what you said in your About Me section- you seem like such a positive person :) I am so jealous that you live in NYC- I miss it there so much! I can't seem to find the variety of cultural food in my area like I could in NY. I hope you had a fabulous birthday and spent it with the people you love!
