- I was just diagnosed with AA in April....on my mother's birthday actually. I have good and bad days...
If my alopecia is stress related the only thing I can think of that could have caused all this was my dog passing away last year. I can't believe that going through that could be causing me to lose my hair. I had never even heard of alopecia until the day I discovered I had a bald spot. I had no idea what was happening and still struggle with understanding and acceptance. I hope that somehow meeting people will here will help me down the road.

I know some people shave their head clean but I don't mind the stubble, It hasn't affected how the hairpiece feels. In fact, my wigs are wearing much better since I did shave the rest off. All the best.

That reminds me of how hard it was when my precious soul-mate cat died 8 years ago. I lost 20 lbs (and wasn't overweight in the first place). Anyway,
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" Welcome to Alopecia World, glad you found us and i hope you wont feel a lil less alone when it comes to dealing with the difficult, emotional "rollercoaster" moments.
I hope you can stay positive and that you wont stress out too much.
lots of ppl with alopecia areata will get their hair back, it doesnt mean you will end up looking like for example, me, with a bald head etc.
Try and vent as often as u can, lots of us here can listen to you.
So dont hesitate to give a shout whenever u feel like it.
