But really, you need to write to everyone from your country on this site and find out which DERMATOLOGISTS, not doctors, are experienced enough in alopecia in your area to tell you if you have it. One clue: pitted fingernails, believe it or not, and hairs that fall out looking like exclamation points if you look at them up close. Go to www.naaf.org for more.

I hope you enjoy getting information and support here. I know it takes a long time often to get a medical appointment scheduled in the UK...any luck with getting a diagnosis from a dermatologist? Knowing more about what it isn't can be helpful in determining what the cause might be. In mild cases of alopecia areata for example, some treatments help some people regrow hair....though new thinning or bald patches can develop.
What kind of alopecia does your aunt have?
