About Me:
I am 36 years old, happily married mum of 2 gorgeous kids. I am Scottish but have lived in England for the last 10 years. Love to excercise any way I can, love music and reading too.

I am currently planning a fund raising cycle From John O Groats (Scotland) to Lands End (England) next year. The route is just over 1000 miles long and will take almost 2 weeks to complete. I hope to raise public awareness and also some funds along the way.

My long time relationship with alopecia started at the age of 8yrs. I was trapped in a house fire and within 3-4 months I was AU. My hair then grew back partially at age 15yrs and the doctors seemed to think that puberty had a hand in that. From the age of 15yrs to 22yrs I had a considerable amount of hair and it was not obvious at first glance that I was AA, I managed to style it well and coped really well. At age 22yrs after the birth of my son, within a few months I was AT. I have to say that was the hardest time for me and i think i struggled to come to terms with it more then than at any other time possibly because my hormones were all over the place. At age 25yrs my hair then returned almost completely except for a few patches which were not that obvious and it remained that way until I was almost 30yrs when I became really bad AA to the point where I had to bite the bullet and visit the barber shop, the agony of waking up day after day to the hair on my pillow was too much. I did acheive partial regrowth again about a year later but now at age 36yrs have been AU again for a little over a year.

I have decided after all of this that I'm actually at my happiest when I am AU. It's like I know where I am with that, I really dislike the stages in between. I am now trying to embrace my AU and not be embarrassed about who I am.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia universalis
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

I wrote this when I was in a dark place and it helped me a lot, hopefully it might help someone here too x

I used to know a little girl

Folks always used to stare

They wondered bout the little girl

The one who had no hair

She tried so hard to fit right in

Like them she tried to be

Kids laughed and joked and taunted

But her hurt they could not see

She never let her feelings show

She kept them locked away

This carried on… Continue

Hi Donna,

I loved all of Scotland. My friend and I would drive to historical sites for day trips. I did get to see Edinburgh Castle lit up at night. Beautiful!!!
I think the best chinese food I ever had was in Scotland. Haha

Thanks Donna,

Where is Hampshire? I've been to Glasgow and Edinburgh plus all the little villages inbetween. I have freinds in Eaglesham Village.
Wishing you safe journeys on your Bikeathon.

Hugz,
Jeff

Hello and welcome, Donna!
Interesting what you say about AU. I feel the same way. Having gone through all the stages of hair loss, it's like, "well, this is it!"
How are you doing today?
