Married
About Me:
I am a female 47 yrs old. I had loc in my hair since 2003, in July 2009, I notice my locs were getting thinner and my scalp was hurting. I took the locs out in 2009, and my hair was a nice afro. Peri-menopause made it thinner in the front. (That is what the GYN dr. said) By Sept 2009 I started seeing a real change in textures and my hair was falling out a lot. During this time my calcium was very high, I took so many test for cancers. I worried so much.
By Nov, 2009 I was in a state of depression and taking medication for my depression. What a mess! I took my self off the medication in February 09 and decided I had to take control of this. I’ve been wearing hats and scarves all spring and summer of 2010. Well Jan 2011I now have painful eye brows, which is now thinning. My hair seems to what to grow now. I still need something over it or cut it totally bald. I’m going to buy a wig.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata

Wigs for black women

Posted on February 16, 2012 at 7:00pm 11 Comments

I looking to purchase a wig. Is there any wigsite/ stores that sell wigs for black women?

Maybe it's the food we eat!

Posted on January 17, 2011 at 2:30pm 16 Comments

On my way to natural eating and removing the gluten from my diet. Today is my first day. I don't have much money until Friday, so I have to eat what is in the house. It's 2:00 pm and I only ate an apple and some cucumbers with olive oil and vinegar. I have a natural doctor, I just started last month with her. She gave supplements and some food items I should eat and not eat. I've been taken the supplements ,but eating what ever I wanted. I have notice an improvement in my hair. One of our… Continue

How are you, Angie? Guess what? My hair is falling out again! Thank goodness I kept the wig on. Now the question is whether to cut off what has grown in so that the wig feels more comfortable.
I was reading through this thread and see a pattern. My hair is falling out at the nape which was the LAST area to grow back in. Isn't that odd? This condition is just so weird.

Hello,
I just love your smile, it gives me confidence that I can survive this AA.

How do I make it so I have to friend someone to get their e-mail. I received a very strange private e-mail from someone on this website and I think it would be wise to review individual profiles before someone contacts me privately.

Thanks,

Carla

Ms. Angie,
How are you girl? Yes I did purchase the latest wig online at hairsisters.com. Only cost me $38.00 with shipping. I love that site. Must say..... I'm a little addicted. Lol! So what is new in your life? I just recently had the opportunity to go wig shopping with a young girl from my church. She is 23 and has cancer and is losing her hair to chemo. We went to a local beauty supply store and she picked out a really nice wig. God gave me this alopecia for some reason. If I can help others that's what I'm going to do.
