- My 8 yr old daughter has Alopecia Areata since april of 09, this decease caught me by surprise i had never heard about it. Her hair has come and gone, she is such an amazing little girl she copes with it better than i can, at this point she doesn't mind alopecia she is happy and busy being a 8 yr old.
2011 update: My daughter's hair had been growing for over 6 months all on its own without spots, this year she started school without a wig, she has about 90% hair back the problem is that I just found two new spots :( for a minute we thought we were done with this Alopecia thing

Cindy and Samantha said… - you may need to find a Mayo clinic or a chilrens' hospital. Good luck. Your insurance may cover the out of state costs. I know of 2 families that sought the treatment out of state and it was covered. Good luck.

- glad things are going well for Saida. My only suggestion with keeping the wig on in the heat would be to wear a hat over it. Sam had the same issues when she wore a wig in the warmer weather. She'd come home and take it off like a hat...Good luck . Have you given any thought as to looking into the squaric acid treatment that Sam is doing?

- karah was having issues with her's! the tape with pulling her regrowth, so they attached velcro and it velcros to what hair she has left, but she still wont wear it, i know its uncomfortable for her so i dont press the issue! i honestly dont think karahs wig looks natural, the hair color is off, i just thought it would look more real then what it does! i hope you end up having better luck then what you have!

How can I make it better for my daughter?

My daughter is in second grade and she started wearing a wig to school since day one because thats what she wanted, her wigs looks very natural and stays on all day, before school started i wrote a letter to the principal and her teachers to let them know she would be wearing a wig everything was fine untill about a week ago she told me that her teacher made her talk to her class about her condition. then kids started teasing her about not having hair, My daughter says that her classmates told… Continue
