International Alopecia Day 2012 - Saturday, August 4!

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ON INTERNATIONAL ALOPECIA DAY THIS YEAR?

A small get-together with friends? Lunch? Picnic in the park? Walk/run? Info table at a mall? Party? Check out the previous years' videos for ideas. Plan something small or large.

It's our day to raise public awareness and celebrate with friends. For those of you who've been wanting to try going out in public bald for the first time, THIS is the perfect day!

Be a part of this year's YouTube video slideshow by taking photos of yourself and your friends on August 4 to send to me later. It's BEST if you hold up a sign (can be handwritten) that says your city/location and "International Alopecia Day 2012".

Join the International Alopecia Day Group on AlopeciaWorld and/or Facebook, and post a blog about YOUR location and plans.

Please share this with your Alopecian friends around the U.S. AND all over the world - the more countries we have represented, the better! Local newspapers and TV will report about this event if we can list a number of cities and countries taking part - it BECOMES news, and helps us get the word out about Alopecia Areata.

See you OUT there!

Great, Lou! The plan for future years is to keep the event on the FIRST Saturday of August, as it is this year. ( ;-)

Bree - you can search on Alopecia World's member list for people in South Africa, and then send them a message or comment on their page. BUT, even if you don't locate anyone else near where you live before August 4, please take a photo of yourself that day (preferably holding a sign that says where you are). I'd LOVE to include South Africa in the video!

Latina - that's a beautiful story about you! THIS is exactly the sort of awareness-raising we need! I've gotten local newspapers to do stories about me and International Alopecia Day, and also local TV news shows. The more cities (and countries!) we have represented in the video, the easier it is to "sell" news media on doing a story because it's more interesting.

I notice that it mentiones International Alopecia Day is August 4, and that's great. But, it gives the NAAF website, which doesn't mentione AID because it's not something they sponsor.

Great interview! Please take a photo of yourself (alone or with friends) on August 4 for me to include!

I will be showing off my bald head on the lake...with plenty of sunblock. Wakeboarding and BBQing!

Latina- I would love to read your story but without subscribing to Daily Press. Any way you can share the content with us?
