Hi All,
Well today was a spectacular day. After writing my story (I found my Inner peace) ,I felt so good that I went shopping.Guess what I bought??I bought hair accessories.Yes , I bought cute butterfly clips and those bling butterflys you can screw into your hair.Yup bling bling , all over me.Oh and I also bought some pretty bow clips and other miscellaneous stuff.Okay now you all must be wondering why Im glad about it.
When ever I passed those shops or see people wear them I used to feel very very sad,coz I just love them so much ,but I do not have the hair for them.Well today everything changed , I bought them and I wore them.Yes , my scalp did show and yes , people did notice. But I dint care. Why should I?? God gave me that defect , I dint chose it . And I definitely dint do some thing bad to have gotten it.So why should I be ashamed or embarrassed???
People notice and bite ears about it and whisper and point to me..Let them. They wont intimidate me anymore .I have every right to be happy ,to buy and wear things and do every other thing they do.I wont let all the pointing in the world stop me from living my life to the fullest. To hell with all those unempathetic people. If they cant understand and be supportive then how can their views or opinions matter??
And today my dear friends as I wore my bling butterfiles and bows all over my hair and walked through the mall,I felt wonderful.I finally could do something I ve been yearning to do for 11yrs now.The 16yr girl inside me jumped with joy,her joy knew no bounds. So friends if you lost all your hair,go buy the prettiest wig,its awkward, artificial, people notice you and turn back to look at you...never mind...let them..you live your dream, dont let a bunch of people you will probably never see again in your life ever again , ruin what you can have and do today.Just remember you never asked for it,It was just dished out to you and you will not let that dampen your free spirit.
I was so psyched with my purchase today that I wore then all the instant I bought them and as soon as I came home made my hubby click pics.Il upload my bling hair pics asap.So do and be what you want to,dont let ANYTHING stop you !!

Very inspiring! I wish I could have this attitude a bit more, I do sometimes. Its harder though when you live in a small town where everyone knows everyone, and everyone seems to know everyone's business. I often wish I lived in a city where I could walk past most people knowing I wouldn't ever see them again.
I do really admire your attitude, good on ya!

Ya Amanda.Small towns can be a more trying than larger cities. But awareness about alopecia has not made it big yet.People still fail to understand the struggle we put up against it.Countless doctors , medicines ,agony and tears. But yeah the only way to make them see is by letting them know that it is a medical condition and not a disease. They should be made aware.

I love your attitude!!!! Well done!!!! I too got to the point where who cares what others think. And also bought some fun hair accessories but I pin them to my scarfs.

Jasmine even though I do have to contend with the "small town syndrome" as I call it, posts like yours do inspire me and give me courage to not care what people think. I think you are right, there is not enough awareness of Alopecia yet, but maybe one day who knows. I like to think my supportive circle of family and friends have full awareness of Alopecia and how it can affect people, I am very lucky to have such good family and friends. Sod the rest of them! Now where is that fancy hairslide....

Great post! Love the energy and positivity...you have inspired me to go out and get some of these things myself. I love all of the fun hair accessories these days, but always feel like "what in the heck will I do with this?!", now I know!! :o)

I'm from a small town...small town's are much easier for me to be me. It's the big cities that freak me out! I mean, I'm still me, bald, beautiful, wigless me, but I have less insecurities when I'm "home"...where "everybody knows your name"!! ;o)
