Hi Sian, my daughter developed AA 18 months ago, aged 13.  By August 2013 she had lost 2/3 of her hair.  She had blood tests (which didn't reveal anything abnormal), we were referred to a Dermotologist who couldn't really offer any help - steroid creams showed some results, but as soon as we stopped using them, the hair fell out again.  In desperation I started to look into diet/leaky gut syndrome.  I started my daughter on the GAPS diet last September and the results have been amazing - after three weeks little red spots appeared on her scalp, followed by fluffly baby soft hair.  She now has regrowth everywhere (about 2 inches long now).  There is a lot of scepticism about this and some may say it would have grown back anyway, which I guess may be true, but H is so happy now!  The Paleo diet and SCD diet follow similar rules - it is quite hard at first and takes some effort, but so, so worth it in my mind.  If you want any more information I'd be happy to help.

Hi

The wig that my daughter wears is a Freedom Wig (they are made in NZ) and yes you can swim in them....everyday may be a bit of an ask though as chlorine and sea water will cause major issues and could damage the hair.

I'm pleased your daughter liked the piccies of Libby.  I think it always helps to know there is something out there that looks as good (if not better than a lot of people's growing hair).  If you ever want to ask me any questions about Libbys wigs, just message me and I'll give you a call.

Libby lost her hair above her ears first then down the nape of her neck then really all over.

I hope you are both doing well.

Hear from you again soon.

Hi, it did take a LONG time to really get comfortable and it's weird to think that the solution was to go bald and wear wigs. Still a struggle here and there but I found that this is me and I am going to live with it. I wish the best for you and hope her journey gets easier.

Hi Sian,

We are hoping to have a bbq in christchruch at the end of February if you can make it over. There would most likely be a few youngsters there, as well as parents.

Cheers

Paul
