Meet Ella The Enchanted Princess

She is a very special little girl. She is a beautiful princess with big purple-blue eyes and pink heart-shaped lips! She wasn’t any ordinary princess; she was very special and an amazingly brave little girl! Ella was born with no hair, and this made her unique. She doesn't like the way she looks and hates looking into mirrors.

I wrote a book and illustrated it, to…

New “bald” friend of Barbie causes controversy

U.S. toymaker Mattel created a “bald” friend of Barbie doll named Ella and donated a limited quantity of the dolls to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF).

However, the bald doll has created some controversy in the alopecia community because Ella is packaged with a wig on.

Some feel that it is not a real representation of a person with alopecia and…

Where in the world is Julia?

I have been a busy bee these last couple of years. I started a federally recognized non profit organization for youth writers. I was laid off. I went back to school and completed the program with a 4.0 GPA. My first born graduated high school. Traveled out West for the first time last year and I will be going back again soon. Got certified as a Personal Trainer. Lost some weight. Hustling to pay bills off...it's working. Still married to the BEST man ever, he's so sexy:) Being mommy and…

INTERNATIONAL ALOPECIA DAY - spread the word in other languages!

As many of you know, the name of our annual awareness and pride event was changed in May by vote of the National Bald Out Group. The event is now called "International Alopecia Day".

Because of the name change, I removed the second NBO video that I had made, and it's no longer on YouTube. So, the text is no longer available there. But, in case anyone else wants to translate the message into…

How has being bald affected you???????????????

How has being bald affected you? That is if it has affected you. Mind you I do think it must have even if it is only the fact that you notice how cold it is much more now than when you had hair.

Many of the websites for Alopecia document how many people are stressed about having Alopecia and that they desperately worry about their hair growing back. I must admit that when I first had alopecia I was concerned about the situation but once I shaved my head I stopped worrying and found… Continue

Attending my first "Bald Girls Do Lunch" function in Arizona...

I just want to share an experience I had when attending a luncheon 6 months ago...I got a chance to meet 9 other beautiful women who shared the same condition I have...Alopecia.

Finally I got a chance to see someone of my likeness, some women came to the function without wigs and others had wigs on, but we still shared our stories and felt a sisterhood in our likeness.

I left that luncheon with the understanding of knowing:

We do have options and choices of what we… Continue

What happen...the first time I went to work BALD!

This is a story I had in a blog back in October of 2007, you will see as you read on I get pretty upset...

Well, I had been working up to this point of reviling my Baldness at work for about a month on my job. Trying to prepare folks on my job for the drastic change. I posted information about the "Bald Girls Do Lunch" in the company break room's bulletin board as well as showing the local newspaper articles that were going around about the luncheon that showed a picture of me in my… Continue
