Here are two interesting studies from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Keep in mind these are mouse studies and no human studies have been done in this directions so far. Heat treatment increases the incidence of alopecia areata…

A case report regaridng one man's remission after eradicating Helicobacter pylori infection.

The title of the case report can be misleading since this a causal relationship between AA and H pylori and it is unknown if the man's AA was "cured" (I prefer went into remission) because of the series of antibiotics to remove any infections caused by the H. pylori. I always take these studies with a grain of salt, but I have to say, this is the first time that I've seen a case report where a protocol of eliminating the infection caused by the H. pylori on a patient who also has AA was…See More

Hi Mike, Any updates on the onion regimen? If you're interested, Nadya shows you how to make an onion conditioner on youtube. You might have to turn the volume down a bit. http://youtu.be/wt40_xwQGaQ

NIH gave Dr Smith, Professor of Medicine Penn State $500,000.00 to study LDN and Crohn’s disease. Dr. Jill Smith’s recently completed low dose Naltrexone trial with Crohn’s patients in 2010 1. 45% of the 40 patients achieved…

Hmmm, interesting, some people with psoriasis use creams with dithranol to relieve symptoms. How long did it take for your hair to start growing starting when you first applied the ointment?

From what I've been reading in other forums, the Naltrexone seems to work for other autoimmune diseases as well. I was looking at this drug for my daughter who also developed narcolepsy. A look at Wikipedia shows there are some side effects but…

Narcolepsy is an autoimmune disease at the moment. From what I understand, the hypothalamus produces the hypocretin protein and the hypocretin protein is involved with the sleep cycle. The immune system kills the cells that produce the hypocretin…

I'll bring up Mono and Epstein Barr Virus with my daughter's doctor. She had, what I call an episode at school the other day, her friends and the school nurse sort of freaked out because they couldn't not get her to respond. When she…

Autoimmune diseases tend to cluster. I did not know that narcolepsy was autoimmune. My daughter's au developed after mono.

I would certainly want to also rule out Mono or Epstein Barr Virus-I developed AU after having a prolonged and unusual bout of Epstein Barr that lasted over 2 and a half years, and certainly some doctors did not want to believe that "was…

Narcolepsy and alopecia areata

So far, it's been quite a journey. It started out when my daughter developed GERD in the 4th Grade, then she developed AA in the 6th, now she has Narcolepsy in the 9th and not just the narcolepsy but the catalepsy along with it. If she even feels high anxiety during a test or with a teacher, she's out for around 20 mins. and there is nothing anybody can do to wake her up. The doctor misdiagnosed the sleeping disorder suggesting that my daughter was depressed because of her AA. Well she wasn't…See More
