- My name is Sam, I have Alopecia Universalis and have been bald since the age of 6 or 7. I am from Chicago, or a suburb outside called Hinsdale. I played a lot of sports growing up as all of my teammates were very accepting. however I tore both of my acl's playing football, so the athlete thing had to take a hiatus. I am now in college at the University of Kansas, Rock Chalk, love it here b/c it is a blast. However I find it has been increasingly hard to meet people in college b/c I do not wear a wig. Yet I find myself not really caring what other people think about it. yes it is hard to be looked at out of the corner of people's eyes, and yes it is difficult to meet women, but at this point I am so used to I could give a damn. So much so, that I now drive a scooter and watch all the people go, "Huh?" I find it amusing. I think I will be successful when I get out of college though I am not sure how that is going to happen. My Alopecia has blessed me with some very desireable characteristics for the workplace as 1. I stand out 2. I am very accepting of others and am genuinely happy to be meeting people 3. I work very quickly and have the ability to grasp things on the fly and make them work. and I could go on and on. Thanks for reading if you have, feel free to ask me questions, I think I have a lot to say.
