- 24 going on 25. Married to my wonderful hubby since I was 22. Have had a large bald spot (unchanging) since I was 5. Not noticeable but could never comfortably put my hair up. Went on Yaz when I was 22 and began getting patches off hair loss. Hadn't had any new baldness though since I was five. Got steroid injections successfully but hair would just fall out in other spots. Went off of b.c. after a few months. Started optometry school in Aug of 2008. Stress has been baaad for the baldness. Lots more patches, still responding to the injections but falling out more rapidly. Now I have an ovarian cyst and the doc wants to put me back on birth control to shrink it. I know it will cause the hairs to fall out more. Ive also had my thyroid fully removed from having thyroid cancer. Hypothyroidism also runs in my family. All related? You tell me. When will I find a doc who cares about all my problems and not just one body part at a time! I live for Jesus Christ and know that he has a greater plan for my life than I could ever imagine!! :)

Just an update
So I dont know if I will lose all my hair...as of now I can still cover up all the many spots that have fallen. I originally joined this site because I was scared, and wanted a community of people like me. I am so grateful as I have read many peoples blogs and peace has somehow taken over the fear and anxiousness that I was feeling. Hair or no hair, life is good, God is good...Praise Jesus! :)

I know how hard it can be. I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!"
