So after a few months of suddenly losing hair, I think I'm just about ready to accept what's happening and that I am ready to purchase a wig. I'm new to the game, and so have a few random (and…Continue

About Me:
I'm a 28 year old lass working as a university biology laboratory technician, and love to divulge in photography and music in my free time!

I have lost most of my hair in the last few months, and I still yet to find out why this is happening to me. After being officially diagnosed with depression, I then somehow developed eczema all over my body and later on, psoriasis on my scalp. The doctor believes that it is the psoriasis that has caused my sudden hair loss, but there is no definate proof as of yet. I have since then seen a dermatologist, and I have discovered that I have now developed an allergy to necklaces which have caused my neck area to flare up! I may have developed other intolerences - who knows?!

I'm not going to lie...I have been finding all this very difficult to deal with, and have been getting away with wearing hats during the cold recent months to cover up my ever increasing baldness.

I will be going on my first wig shopping trip with my mother tomorrow morning. I am dreading it quite frankly! I'm hoping that it'll be a step in the right direction though.

Just like many people on this site, my hair has always been my crowning glory from a very early age. I was lucky with having thick, wavy black hair. Unfortunatly, I have sticking out ears and so having thick hair was always a blessing in diguise for me in helping to cover them up (I never used to tie my hair up either in fear of showing my ears).

Coming across this website and reading all of your stories has inspired me to join up myself and to learn more about dealing with alopecia. Hopefully by being on this website, I'll eventually be able to accept what is happening.

Looking forward to chatting with you all! :)

Welcome MagicMoo,
I am also new on this site but not new to Alopecia. I understand though how you feel, I have had asthma my whole life and started my alopecia my junior yr in high school with a couple of patches during year end exams, scary for me at a young age.
Like everyone else my long blonde hair was my pride too. With out rambling on to know that there are so many of us out here all over the world is very inspiring. Beleive it or not I only know one other person who has alopecia and have never met another else. This site has given me a wake up that I am not alone.
