Hubby joinned the AA club

Posted on September 28, 2009 at 6:12pm 6 Comments

Hiya everyone, I'm really beginning to think my AA experience has been triggered by some thing in the environment. I began to lose my hair in Oct 09 during which time my husband began having major skin issues (dermatitis type). He also experienced a bit of what looked like AA through his beard area. My hair completely fell out then regrew. A few months back my hair started falling out again, a lot slower this time but still falling out. Next thing hubby's hair is falling out too. Definate AA… Continue

Just an update on me

Posted on April 27, 2009 at 10:17pm 4 Comments

Hi again. It's been so long since I last bloged and on my hair front a lot has happened - I HAVE SOME.

After shaving my head back in January I noticed a little bit of regrowth. Well that regrowth has taken off and I now have a full head of hair again (minus a couple of tiny patches).

Funny thing I have noticed since I stopped wearing a scarf, people are commenting on my new hair cut. A lot of people knew about my hair loss, but those who didn't obviously didn't get why I was… Continue

I've really joined the club now

Posted on February 8, 2009 at 6:05pm 5 Comments

Well after humming and haaaing for ages I took the plunge and finaly got rid of the stupid amount of hair I had left. And just like everyone here says - it was the best thing I could have done. I feel I look more normal and a hell of a lot better with no hair than what I did with my sorry excus for hair.

Funny thing is now that I've shaved it's growing back. I'm not getting too excited as I know I could lose it again but the top of my head is almost covered (a scattering of patches).… Continue

My journey with AA - nearly three months in

Posted on January 14, 2009 at 3:23pm 1 Comment

It's been a while since I last wrote and a lot has happened really. Had a great Christmas, ate too much and laughed lots. I then spent two weeks camping in the sunny Hawkes Bay. During my two weeks away I had no Enar treatment, I'm not sure if it was helping slow down the hair loss or not but man did my hair loss have a major come back. Standing in a low pressure camp site shower covered in your own hair trying to rinse it off is a pretty depressing state of affairs and caused a few teary… Continue

My journey with AA - 7 weeks in

Posted on December 10, 2008 at 8:45pm 4 Comments

Hi again everyone. Well my hair is still falling out but has slowed down 'heaps'. Patches of stubble are now going smooth and still no real sign of growth. Oh well, I'm getting quite use to wearing my hat and strangely no one has asked why. I've never been a hat person before, hot and sweaty things they are.

I've finaly let my father in law loose on my head with his Enar (Enero Nuro Adaptive Regulation) machine. It's a wee Russian (no drugs) invention devised as a 'repeatable… Continue

HI Karen,
SO sorry for the delayed reply, I haven't been on here in far too long!
Exciting to see another person in Wellington! I'm 24 and lost all of my hair about a year ago (AU), no sign of any regrowth for me unfortunately but it's very cool to know that other people have had some luck!

Nice to hear from you, and great about your regrowth. I'm still not confident with my baldness after 13 months, and still keep hoping it will suddenly start sprouting, but only on my head! I'm pretty useless with my wig and keep throwing on a hat, which is okay in winter, but gets a bit tedious. Going on my "honeymoon/2nd anniversary"to Phuket in Sept. and the hair thing is a bit of a downer. Never mind, I'm thinking I might get confident enough to bare all over there. I'm a teaching asst. so like to keep my head covered at school as yr 7 & 8s can be less than tactful at times! Keep in touch

Hey Karen,
It's funny I was just visiting your site. Thanks for the encouraging news. I think it's AWESOME that your hair has come back. JUST AWESOME!!! I am done with treatments as well. I went to the last derm not expecting to get much and she suggested shots so I though why not??? I'm done with the false hope. I do have some pricklies in my hair that feel like regrowth but I'm still losing more than gaining. I hope to get the ending you are having that's for sure. I'm pumped for you! Post pics...it's like your online journal...and journey.

thank you for taking the time to respond...i guess i am just trying to understand this horrible diorder. you know i thought i had comes to terms with this years ago but now that it has resurfaced i dont believe i ever did. i find myself crying all the time and feeling completley hopeless at times. i know that i cant live like this falling apart all the time but the strength i thought i had has become nonexistant. i am so scared of what could be and of wht is already happening i cant seem to focus on anything else. (selfish i know b/c i have to wonderful kiddos and a great hubby and a truly blessed life) i just cant seem to move past this an enjoy whats right in front of me. i am sorry to be dumping on you like this i just dont really have alot of people who know what i am going tru. but thanks for listening and i think i hae talked your head off enough for now. take care and again thanks for taking the time to and sharing your story with me.
