Lysa, I went through the same thing. Cortisone injections by a dermatologist made my hair grow back. Look into that.

Oh, one other thing about heredity. My doctor said that alopecia can skip a generation or generations. So it's possible that say, my great-grandmother, whom I never met, might have had it.

Yes, you have to have bare scalp to wear a vacuum hairpiece, for it to "stick on". The lace cap ones with silicone around the edges are good when you have a lot of hair loss or big patches.

Hi Jeff,
I don't get injections anymore. My hair's back, thank goodness. My friend who lost all her hair and then it grew back got a more aggressive program of injections. I'd ask your dermatologist.

Are you still getting injections? I did this when I was first diagnosed but the alopecia in my case was much stronger than the shots. I'm glad it's working for you!

Hi Jeffrey,
I went to Dr. Neal Schultz in Manhattan. he gave me cortisone injections in my bald spots and told me to use Men's Extra-Strength Rogaine on my spots several times a day. I am so fortunate it worked. A friend of mine had success…
