I am back on Armour Thyroid and I have lost weight without changing
much in my diet. When I was on the Levothyroxine it was easy to put on the weight for me.

I am taking Levothyroxine 112mcg and cannot seem to loose weight. Is anyone else that's taking the medication having this issue?

I'm loving that 20 pounds lighter Kristy! What blood type are you?

I'll feel better when it's not winter any longer as my head won't be so cold! I have a hard time finding hats that don't make me itch just sitting around the house. In addition to the Calcium, extra Vitamin D can be helpful during the winter as well. Your body needs the extra D to help absorb the calcium, and it is also reported to have some immune boosting effects as well. As far as food goes, I follow a blood type diet. I know that it sounds like hocus pocus to many, but I maintain a weight of at least 20 pounds less than I did 5 years ago just by following that for the most part. Unfortunately for me, my AA kicked in after I thought I was getting "healthier" so I can't say it helps with hair growth. :(

Does anyone eat any special type of food that has you feeling better?
Lily Comment by Lily on January 15, 2011 at 9:51am
I was very uneducated about thyroid disease when I first found out I had it. After I was on Synthroid for a year or so, I saw a new doctor that asked me if I had Hashimotos, which my first doctor never tested me for. It turns out I do have Hashimotos too. I was on Armor Thyroid for years, but I am now on Levothyroxine, 150 mcg a day.
How do you all feel in the winter with this thyroid condition? I always feel better when it's warmer!

Hi Carrie, you sound like some of the rest of us...I too learned about the hashimotos in my late 20s and then was diagnosed with AA after my first pregnancy. I miscarried a second pregnancy and then my AA went nuts and now I've progressed to universalis. I believe there is a link between pregnancy hormones and AA for those who this hits later in adulthood...just wish someone would start researching it!
