Hey I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's & wanted to see what steps people have done to treat it. It seems like it requires a diet change.

Yes PC, i am taking the same dose 112 mcg and have not been able to lose much at all. I have been stuck at 155 for 2 yrs now. I do have 4 kids but this is my highest wight since not being preggers or not steriods. I am comfy at 140/145 so not much to lose. It may just be the last 10 that are hard to shed or that i am over 30 but man. I go to the gym 3-5 days per week for 1 hour and nothing happens. any tips from anyone who's had luck losing?

PICNIC IN THE PARK
Chino California Alopecia Areata
Support Group Meeting

Victoria Arbors Park
7429 Arbor Lane
Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739

The support group is an ideal place to come and talk with others about living with alopecia areata. It is the place to gain knowledge from those who have had years of experience. With time comes the ability to deal and cope with your own hair loss or that of a loved one. We are very fortunate that so many are willing to bring to the meetings their wisdom and advice to share in a direct but compassionate manner
that reflects understanding and concern. The support group experience has its rewards for all who attend.

I am taking Levothyroxine 112mcg and cannot seem to loose weight. Is anyone else that's taking the medication having this issue?

I'll feel better when it's not winter any longer as my head won't be so cold! I have a hard time finding hats that don't make me itch just sitting around the house. In addition to the Calcium, extra Vitamin D can be helpful during the winter as well. Your body needs the extra D to help absorb the calcium, and it is also reported to have some immune boosting effects as well. As far as food goes, I follow a blood type diet. I know that it sounds like hocus pocus to many, but I maintain a weight of at least 20 pounds less than I did 5 years ago just by following that for the most part. Unfortunately for me, my AA kicked in after I thought I was getting "healthier" so I can't say it helps with hair growth. :(
