I have wigs! My amazing friend and I went wig shopping yesterday and, since they were so cheap for stuff that felt not half bad (they're both made from Kanekalon and are oh, so so shiny), I got two. One sleek asymmetric crop/bob and one shoulder length layered style with a fringe. They both need to be trimmed, which I'm having done on Friday by a salon I found through Trevor Sorbie's My New Hair project. The fringe on the longer one reaches somewhere near my nose when I wear it right and really, the Cousin It look isn't one I'm going for as an alternative to my bald Uncle Fester thing.

I know I said I wasn't going to wear them regularly and that I'm quite happy being bald, and I still am. But seeing myself with hair is amazing and I may well wear them more often. It's nice to have the option, y'know? I really want a blonde one too, but I got these two from an afro-caribbean beauty shop and they had precisely three blonde wigs, all of which looked shocking on me. Maybe my NHS wig will be a blonde...

I'm so relieved I'll be able to blend in when I go home for Christmas. I'll see all my family in eleven days and be able to go out for meals and drinks and shopping with them and not feel uncomfortable or that we're standing out. I can't wait!

Also, thank you for the lovely comments when I posted these pics earlier. They're not the best I could have taken but I hope to get some better ones after they've been styled and trimmed. It's all quite exciting.

I'm so happy that you're "set" for the holidays and will feel more comfortable. It's good to be able to blend in!

Gorgeous!!!! I particularly love the longer length wig. It really works well around your face.

My husband and I were talking about wigs today and I confided in him that if I ever have to go that route, I would definitely like a selection of wigs!!

Thank you so much, everyone! I'll post some more pics once they've been trimmed and styled to suit me a bit better.

You look fab in both!! I'm begining to appreciate the unique chic that wearing a wonderful wig can furnish a woman. You Rock it-Big Time! I'm sure you'll have an awesome Christmas and get tons of compliments. Today I nearly caused a riot in a local club because I was wearing oversized shades and a blonde wig and people thought I was Lady Gaga--no joke!!

I really like the shoulder length one, though from what I have gleaned the short one may be more "you." Either way, they're both great. Oh and yeah...I'm a blonde but if I am going to have to wear wigs, I might as well have fun with it. My current fave is auburn :-)

You look great in both wigs and I must also say the bald look suits you too. For me, I like to blend in so I go the wig route too. Have fun with them :)

Nice wigs! You rock 'em with confidence! Pretty soon you'll be addicted like me and some of the other wig enthusiasts around here! (It's not the worst habit you can have!)
