I wish I could walking around with my wig off and feel good about myself. I see all these girls on here going out without anything on their head. I wish I had the balls to do that, I would feel like people are talking about me and I can't stand it when people look at me... Guys have it easy, they can pull off not having hair and walking around. Girls, not so much, people see a girl with no hair and they just look at us like we are not human. I really wish it didn't bother me that people look at me but it does.

How do you girls do it, and not think about what others are saying about you?

Jessica,

I wish I was one of those girls too. I can't walk around in public without my wig. I really just wish i could, then I would not have to worry about my wig. I am like you too, I am always afraid of what people are saying about me. Even now if somebody looks at me I wonder why they are looking at me.

I started and continue with small steps. I go out bald when I know no one is around, like sitting in the backyard. Another place I feel confident is in my car while driving. I figure the traffic is moving enough that other people wont notice or if they do, Im protected my car and my driving.

Hey Jessica, you do have the balls. Look at you girl, you have posted a picture of yourself on AW....that's one step. I know what you mean though....I wish I had the balls to go out in public without a wig or scarf.....one of these days :-)

Hi
I never wear a wig anymore, yes I get stared at, kids I dont mind, people coming up to me and asking, they have "balls" Adults, especially men really get to me on "bad" days. they either make me want to become invisable, immediatly ! or make me angry and thats when I say something, such as "do you want to ask me something, or are you just staring because your ignorant" ? that usually does the trick.
The feeling of freedom when the sun hits your head, the lack of sticking your finger, biro or any object, in,under or through you wig to get to the damn itch thats driving you mad. In the summer, the sweat does not run into you eyes, down your neck.
Its not for everyone, I did my "coming-out" whilst on holiday, where I knew I would not see anybody I new. It was a wonderful feeling to "go bare" in a public place.
So if you want to do it, go for it, take a good friend along for support. Its your head, your life and your choice. My profile picture is of me in Australia, in almost 1 month there with no wig I only had one negitive comment, and he was a Brit ! the kids were fasinated. but then the people there are so accepting.
Good luck.
