sulo medrol intra venous treatment

I'm a mother of a 10 years old girl that was diagnosed last week having severe alopecia areata. she lost 50% of her hair (not in pathces), partial eyelid.

the doctor recommended on a 3 days treatment every month for 6 months in sulo medrol intra venous as a begining. Do anyone knows what is the prognosis for such an agresive treatment?
