Hi!

I remember my AA starting at around 14 years old. It happened after a severe stressful time in my life.

The AA started out with a widening part in my hair.

Yet, my endocrimologist said it was genetic. So, would I have gotten it anyway?

Best to all of you,

Tovah

I lead a very stress-free life, yet I got AA two years ago, at 58, 8 years after I retired. Maybe stress triggers the condition in some people, but not in my case. Does anyone really knows what triggers this condition? I don't think so....

Thank you, Pam, for your reply.

It's funny that, after all these years, I'm still searching for the why's and how's of this disease.

I know that after a medication I took this year, my alopecia took a totally different feel to of losing my hair. Before, it was a slow diffusion, With the medication, it was coming out in clumps.

Oh well, I'm just asking to keep the little bit of hair in the front. lol. Not looking to have Farrah Fawcet (sp?) hair.

Hi

I think that is what is so very difficult about all hairloss conditions...there isn't a lot of research and therefore nobody seems to be able to tell us why it is happening.  If we knew why then we could work out how to stop it....if only.

In saying that there are some research projects going on around the world (not just for alopecia) but for other auto immune diseases that may eventually help us all. :)

Hi Rose Marie:

I'm spending so much money now on basically anything that I think has the potential to  work. I had resigned myself to the fact that I would never have beautiful hair, but to be trying to do the combover with just a few strands is pathetic even to me now.

It is what it is, I guess.
