Have anyone tried the lace front wigs? If so how do you like them?

Thanks so much for the information. I actually don't have Alopecia either. I have hair loss due to a Metabollic Syndrome. Basically as my doctor explained it's similar to PCOS, but it involves many other organ systems. I'm assuming it's the increase presence of Androgen that's causing my hair to thin so much, but many women in my family have the same issues and have never been diagnosed so I guess it's also hereditary.

I was able to locate a wig shop in my general area and when I called to see if they could suggest someone, since I've read many of the nicer shops have stylist on hand for customization, the owner said she wasn't professionally trained, but dealt with wigs everyday. She offered to trim, add bangs, thin & I think custom cut the lace front for $10. The service is usually free if you purchase your wig from her, but I bought mine online. I thought that sounded reasonable, so I'm going to borrow one of my mom's old wigs and see how well she does on it before using my new ones.

Thanks so much to everyone for their help!

I had never even heard of the organization before. I haven't had anyone in my circle that's experienced Cancer fortunately. It's a good idea since it's so hard to find someone experienced with wigs, but I could see if they're meant to help Cancer patients primarily that people wouldn't want to overuse their service. Honestly though, anyone who is experiencing hair loss should be able to ask for help no matter the cause of their hair loss. I think everyone should help each other out so that more information, education and assistance is out there for all hair loss conditions not just a select few.

Thanks again!

I agree with you so much when it comes to the difference between those who have short term hairloss and those that have long term. The needs around the each situation are vastly different and hair replacement requirements are also very different.

My personal opinion is that a specialist company helping people with alopecia is the best course of action. As everyone knows I help people with Freedom hair in New Zealand and my daughter wears this type of wig. She has alopecia. Her needs have been a top priority in my searching for an answer for her. I never considered short term answers - alopecia (sadly) is a long term condition. Be thoughtful about your needs and who are you working with.

I love my lace front wig. It's Gemtress/Impressions- Tricia. It's affordable and really natural looking. I'm looking for something similar just because they don't have the color and hair texture I really want, but I'd recommend this wig to anyone.

Gemtress lace is one of the best I have seen. The trouble with that line is as you said, the colors and options are limited. I love the quality of this line but wish they would come out with more styles etc.

I'm not a big lover of lace fronts...they always look just a little strange when they are pulled back and there is not a fringe/bang. If you have your own hair I think it can work ok...sort of mixing your hair and the lace together.

My daughter tried on a lace front 'gripper' a wee while ago, she wasn't overly fussed... she felt it looked like dolls hair.

I think all wigs (especially when you don't have any hair), look better with some type of bang or fringe, whether that be a side sweep graduated fringe or a wispy type fringe, to me it just looks more realistic.

Hi Denise, I know I am going against what everyone is saying and I do not mean to make your choice more difficult, but I love lace front wigs. I wear the Jon Renau Adriana which is all hand tied and the Jon Renau Gisele. I cannot afford human hair and never want to spend the time styling them and am happy with these two. The lace is stretchy, so lays nicely on your head. I have AU, so no hair and feel comfortable with my hair pulled back. The lace has to be trimmed a little when you buy it, but otherwise I think they look great. The Jon Renau ones are my favorite of all the lace ones I have tried. I label the wigs I'm wearing in my pictures, so you can see which one is which. Good Luck!

I wear human hair full lace wigs and I love them. They're not itchy like synthetic wigs, and with care can last over a year or 1 1/2 years. I pay about $150-200 shipping included for small cap size or custom made fitted ones. Since I have AU, I use a white glue on my scalp and if lady for weeks. I can even shampoo it and blow dry it and it still sticks no problem.

Can you tell me where you get them for this price?  I bought a new one from XC Sunny.com and waiting to get it, long, straight hair (know it's Indian Hair) but hoping it will be, at least, decent

Can you tell me where you get human wigs for that price? Also, are they long or what length wigs  Thank you in advance

Note the date:  2013  wigs were probably cheaper then.  A decent hh wig for $200 is unheard of today.  Unless if maybe you pay that for supplies and make your own.

I love my lace front gripper. With the right cut and fringe you can wear it in a ponytail or updo.
