Hi all, I am so thankful to have found this site....I have had AA for about 5 years now, and I have been getting by with extensions and hair pieces, but it is finally time to go the wig route....I have no choice.....There is sooo much information out there, it's hard to figure out what are good options......I am not ready to shave my head completely yet, so the freedom wig is out for now, and I don't have $3,000 to spend on a human hair wig....any and all help is greatly appreciated. I'd love to make some new friends here, I have wonderful support around me, but speaking to people who are going thru the same thing is much more meaningful. I learned that from a post partum group I joined shortly after my son was born 12 years ago. I live in Long Island, NY and would love to connect with others. Thanks, Kathleen

Welcome! You have found a great site. I wear wigs, hats & scarves. I also go bald, but not as often because I have to shave my head. I have AGA so it is different, but I know how difficult it is to experience hair loss. Glad you joined!

Hi and welcome here. Since you live in the greater NYC area, I hope you have the time to check out some of the "less expensive" wig salons in Brooklyn. There is Fortune, which makes both EHH and other types of human hair wigs using Asian hair that is called Mongolian (they call it Mazali)and is finer and not so coarse as regular Asian hair. Then there is Milano wigs which make EHH wigs but with 2 different kinds-some of their wigs have been processed as in colored. But both places are worth checking out if you want human hair wigs at a lower price.

Hello Kathleen!

welcome! I just want to recommend you to use lace wigs. a couple years ago I found american on-line store which is www.findwig.com - there are wide range of lace front wigs and prices quite affordable here. And what more important for me - it's really top quality. even it's not human hair - but they use japanese (not chinese) fiber - so, nobody can define it from HH.

here is about their fiber:
As a matter of fact Japanees' Kanekalon fiber, is not fully artificial fiber because its structure includes 20% of organic substances (seaweed) which gave to fiber necessary dullness, and made it full analog as natural Human Hair. Besides, real Kanekalon fiber, thanks to the this organic component - is heat-resistant fiber. Wigs from this material can be twisted and straightened daily, with fluting irons, thermo - nippers and thermo - hair curlers, having chosen temperature to 180 degrees Celsius.
