what are we supposed to do about going to the beach and the pool in the summer time?

i dont think my wig will work with the water and keeping it on. wear a cap? ugh its soo ugly but i guess if i have to i will.  and my eyebrows? they will wash off being that i have to draw them on now...

im sorry i dont mean to sound vain but i am new to alopecia and am completely bald with no hair anywhere on my body just about, so in addiditon to my hair loss, i have no lashes and no eyebrows as well..  im just not sure how i am supposed to enjoy the summer with water sports and all..  any suggestions?

Alopecia is designed for women and hair loss in the summer for excessive heat and hair styles etc .

I have au. I actually can't financially afford tattooed eyebrows or Freedom wigs.  I draw on my brows and apply sealer. I wear pretty cotton scarves. I am in a chlorinated pool, swimming lengths, under water, up to 45 minutes straight.  My brows don't disappear and surprisingly the scarf doesn't come off. In fact, the wetter the scarf, the more it sticks. Much to my surprise,  it is not an issue. For one, who is looking at us? People are there to enjoy their swim time. Second, at least in the pool, lots of people have variety of health issues.  The alopecia just becomes a sign of humanity!  Three, when I leave the change room in a pretty wig and mostt others are struggling to fix their wet chlorine damaged hair, seems like a wig is a great option.  Have fun in the water!

always ask "is my brows still on"  lol so inconvient. i hate this.  so yes now i have to get creative for this summer.i need to buy all water proof make up now.. im getting "

I can't afford permanent makeup. I laughed ....this is my standard question.  I think I even asked my husband during birth of my sons, "are my brows still on?"

Hi,

I wear Nammu swim hats when I swim.  They are available in a lot of patterns and colors and are made of UV protective fabric.  They are more like a skull cap but work great for swimming and don't look out of place at a pool or beach.

Good luck,

Dorothy
