I always feel that everyone chooses their choice of hairpiece for a variety of reasons. I think what you must do is work out what you require from a hairpiece, then approach the people that wear them and understand them. It's very important that you do your homework around what will work for you. From what you say you want something that is secure and comfortable. Do you want synthetic hair, human hair or unprocessed human hair. Do you understand the difference? Do you require a very lifelike look or do you want something a little more stylised? Do you want easy care? Do you require durability? Are you wanting a particular style? Do you have a budget? All these things and more will need to be thought through.

If I can help with any of the above questions just let me know.

Good luck with finding something that works well for you.

I've had all types and finally ordered a vacuum wig...From everything I've heard and seen - it's the top of the line...expensive but then - you will wear it constantly!
I will still keep my others - but they itch and move around and I truly hate that...
Where did you get your vaccum wig? whats the difference between the follea, the gripper and the peggy knight? I think I will save to get one just want to know what is best
I checked them all out and the vaccum wig was the best bet for me. I went through New Life Hair - she was amazing and so helpful. She flew out from Chicago to Denver to measure me...I finally met another woman with Alopecia and you would NEVER know it! We exchanged ideas on eyelashes, best products, etc...just over the moon with excitement for my wig to come. :) I think you would be so happy! :)
Hi Tanya

I am going to copy a post I have written on another thread to help explain some of things about the Freedom vacuum hairpiece and Peggy Knight.

With regards to the Follea hair brand and the Peggy knight gripper - I'm afraid I'm not fully aware of what the relationship is between these two hairpieces. It could be that the Follea hairpiece is being rebranded as the gripper for PKS. But I'm truly not sure so maybe you could contact Follea or PKS. Hope that helps.

Here is the info from the other thread that may help you as well.

Freedom Wigs are made in New Zealand by the Company 'Freedom Wigs". If you live in New Zealand you would deal directly with the manufacturer, but if you live in another part of the world you would deal with an Independent Agent which Freedom supplies their hairpieces to. An Independent Agent is as the name suggests :) - independent of Freedom NZ. They run their own businesses and work within the consumer laws etc. of the country they are in. Freedom has always felt this is the best option for those outside of NZ that require a Freedom Hairpiece as the IA is able to look after their clients far more closely and with the care required to order a Freedom hairpiece. When you go to see an Independent Agent and buy a Freedom Hairpiece you are buying your hairpiece from your Independent Agent - not from Freedom NZ - even though all Freedom hairpieces are made in New Zealand as per the instructions given by the IA's around the world. (Sort of like when you go to the Doctor - the doctor understands your needs and prescribes the medications you may require - you wouldn't normally go to the pharmaceutical company to be diagnosed - Freedom is like the Pharmaceutical Company and the IA is like the doctor) The IA orders your hairpiece from Freedom as per your instructions, then Freedom deals with your IA. I really hope I am making sense here lol.

Freedom has 23 Independent Agents around the world. New Life Hair, Fuller Hair, My Image and Hair Source Inc.are currently the IA's for Freedom's latest hairpiece in the USA; these ladies are well trained and fully supported by Freedom New Zealand. With them you are able to request any of the three different cap types (Breathable Silicone, Glued Silicone or fiberglass). When you decide to meet with one of the Freedom IA's have a chat about what the differences are.

PKS is also an Independent Agent but because of a contractual agreement they work with a choice of two different cap types (Glued Silicone and Fiberglass). PKS prefer to rebrand the Freedom Product, if you are buying a Vacuum Hairpiece from PKS and want the Freedom Product please ask them as I believe they sell other types of products which may cause confusion.

I hope that helps clear up any confusion.

Hi, I'm with Rebecca - vaccum wig is the very best. Lets talk.
I think it depends on a few things...1) how you take care of it, 2) how often you get it colored, cut, etc.) - normally - I think I was told 3-5 years? Pat....is that right?
