Ivonna, another alopecian, and myself were interviewed and photographed by our local newspaper and the article was in today's daily paper. I was very impressed by the size of the article which took up 1/3 of the two pages. We even looked good in the photos - we kept our wigs on but showed a before alopecia photo as well as our present ones. Hopefully it will get some awareness out there. Just this morning I showed the article to a woman at a local coffee shop and she told me her husband had aa for over a year and then it all grew back. Shows there's more people around who've been exposed to alopecia than I think. It was a good experience for me to 'come out' so to speak. Even though I don't keep my au a secret I certainly don't broadcast it around unless it spontaneously comes up in conversation - even then people look at me quizzically and don't really get it that I'm bald!

It was a great article and so many people have commented to me about it and the honesty contained in the article, it stlll amazes me that some people have never heard of alopecia. Well done Pat and Ivanna John.
