Alopecia universalis baby

Hi All,

My baby girl was 11 months when she lost all of her her within a couple of weeks, then two months later eyebrows and eyelashes. She is 20 months now and she has white little fuzz hair and white eyelashes and eyebrows. We have another appointment with pediatrician dermatologist in January, till then I would love to connect with parents who have same problem and I hope to find out more stories.

All the best to everyone!

Eye Make-up for Alopecia Universalis

I love this community. It is helping me to accept my Alopecia Universalis. While I strive to get healthier in hopes of regrowing hair, I've found so many wonderful and caring people on this website who have helped me to accept the condition. I still hope that the autoimmune disease cures itself, but I'm not stressing out over it anymore.

Today, I created a vlog on doing my make-up and getting ready in the morning. I don't bother with fake eyelashes. I don't have real ones to…

Men losing eyebrows now

Dear all,

I just discovered this webpage.

I am AU for about 2 years. And just recently I started losing my eyebrows... one of them is half gone...

I feel as if it is easier for ladies to draw eyebrows... But it sounds really different to me, perhaps, harder to digest as a man...

Can you please advise me what to do or link with other men with similar problem?

Thanks!

I believe (alopecia can...)

I believe that Alopecia can kill us on the inside and leave us a physical shell with a defeated spirit. It almost did that to me. We MUST nurture and pamper our emotional selves (well, too much pampering is bad of course, but go easy on yourself for at least three years) during the transition from possessing hair (and, no, I don't mean owning a wig lol) to not anymore - of course, that is, if we don't come up with a no-side-effects cure - which would be totally kick ass. Then, being bald…

Alopecia Mommy

Hello Alopecia World!

I'm a new mommy (two babies under 2 years old!) and I started losing my hair shortly after a minor car accident while I was pregnant with my son. I gave birth to my daughter last summer and experienced about 90% hair loss following delivery.  I'm curious if there are any other moms out there that have had this happen to them?  Or anyone that struggles with alopecia and wants to share...

I started writing on wordpress:…

Bald Bride: My Alopecia Story, Part 4

While I continued to go about my stressful life as usual including breaking up with Jonathan (more on that in the book), I met Aaron* shortly after the New Year.  During our lunch hour, I happened to sit across from him in the courtyard at WMA.  We ended up chatting about surfing, yoga, and self-reflection of all things.  He told me that he believed in working on oneself and growing as a person.  I remember noting that I liked the way Aaron thought.  It also didn’t hurt that he was lean from…

Pulse steroid therapy

I am recently diagnosed with alopecia universalis.

2. Oral pulse steroid every week ( 5 mg dexa) for 6 months.

Summertime musings

Well its officially summer in the River City. We have had fires everywhere for months (southern Georgia, neighboring Florida counties to the west and south). Even on some days when it was actually not too hot to don a wig I left it at home anyway, as I did not want to get that smoke smell in it.

Anyway, have a niece getting married soon. I already have me dress and hair (wig) picked out. I have always instinctively felt [pressured??? obligated??? i worry...] that for formal… Continue

Healthy, just hairless- Grrrr

Hello friends.

I've been a hairless wonder for the last 10 years. Alternating between Totalis and Universalis. The last 2 years I've gone "au-naturel" and go out bald headed most of the time. I'm tired of hiding the way I look under hats and/or wigs. It's been amazingly freeing to go out bald headed...and tho it took some getting used to being stared at, it's been kinda fun. (To be honest, I just tell myself people stare coz I'm so "gorgeous" they can't help themselves. HA HA HA).… Continue

The British summer!!!!!!

What is so wonderful about British weather is that it changes so much and so often. Only a few weeks ago we were all basking in a glorious hot summer spell. The sun was warming my bald head whenever I went outside and it was wonderful. Today as I walk along my head is drenched and the rain is running off my head and down into my unprotected eyes. On an appearance basis my lack of eyebrows is not a problem as I quite like the total hairless image but they did serve a purpose in that they did… Continue

I am not alone!

It's so funny how God works - everything has its own time and only He knows when the time is right. God comes along and says "OK, you're ready to receive this change and grow." I don't always want these changes. And sometimes, I have been praying for them for years and wondered why they were taking so long to happen. My journey from AA to AU started at four. Bald spots and thinning were a part of my life pretty much every spring of my childhood. I had no idea though, that ALL the hair on my… Continue
