Just diagnosed with frontal fibrosing alopecia

Hi, so glad to have found this forum, just before Christmas I went to have hair cut and my hairdresser was in shock at the loss of hair on my scalp since the last cut.  Needless to say he was pretty blunt and filled me in with horror stories.  I promptly went home and search Ed for a dermatologist in Melbourne who specialises in hair loss and managed to score an appointment on a cancellation.  Fast forward I had my appointment and apart from my diagnosis have been prescribed : aldactone,…

My new hair, and Clinic Del Mondo

This photo is of me wearing my "new hair". An awesome piece of new technology from an awesome man name Greg T Kirk who has teamed up with Clinic Del Mondo on the Gold Coast (QLD) to bring it to Australia. Essentially it's a thin membrane of some plastic substance, threaded with human hair, and glued to the scalp - lasting some 4-6 weeks. While Greg has worked with the technology for a few years in the States, it is completely new here.…

New Year's resolutions

Time for a change or affirmation of your positive traits? New year's Resolution time coming up! I used to tear up the ending-year's calendar into tiny bits, then toss them up as confetti at midnight when ushering in a new year...when I wanted to GET RID OF a bad year, mentally. Nowadays, I have more calendar entries I DO want to keep...but it is an idea that may fit some of you.

My resolutions include being open to mystery and spirituality, taking control of my OWN life (not lives of… Continue

Vegetarian new to Alopecia World (and the world of alopecia)

Hi,

I'm Amy, and I'm new to Alopecia World (and the World of Alopecia). I started losing hair about a month and a half ago, got tested for everything ever, and was told that either it's a (really unlikely) reaction to my immunosuppressant (which I was on for eczema), or just plain ol' alopecia. So about two weeks ago my body upped the ante to include my eyebrows (ugh), lip (good news!), and legs (better news!). It's freaky, and it doesn't seem quite real yet (even as I sit at work wearing… Continue

My New Winter-Caps / Wigs...Asking for opinions... :)

Hey Everybody...

I am posting pictures of my new "Winter-Caps", that's what I call my wigs when I wear them because I don't just wear the same hair every day in the winter months here in AZ... I will go to work on Monday with a cap to match my outfit, and on Tuesday I might wear a scarf and on Wednesday I might wear a short wig and on Thursday I might wear a long wig depending on what I feel like that day.

I use to buy wigs that have blond highlights and now I want to try… Continue
